19.5 Briggs & Stratton dies while mowing

I have an older Craftsman 19.5 Briggs & Stratton Engine that once I mow for a while will just act like it is running out of gas and then it shuts down totally and will not restart for some time. Any ideas? Also, where can I get a service manual for this mower?

The engine is getting to hot or the oil level is to low check to make sure the engine is getting the air that it needs while running they have air vents in hood as well as on sides of most of those tractors or i would mow for a while & put in a cool place to cool down if i can further help e-mail me wade at [email protected]

New Craftsman 20hp Briggs & Stratton 42" riding mower, Model 917.289104. Loses power, dies while mowing. Will not start unless sits 20-30 minutes. Problem began second time I owed with it. ...

first make sure the air intake screen on top of engine is not clogged with debris if thats not a concern you could have a faulty ignition coil etc your engine should have a two year warranty and can be serviced at no charge to you at your local briggs service dealer make sure and check your manual for the fine print though. Briggs makes a great engine and very rarely have I ever seen a problem allthough if you were to have an engine issue it will accur during the first few hours of opperation good luck

Engine seems to flood out when increasing speed and dies

If it starts lightly smoking black smoke at high RPM it is flooding or getting too much fuel. The float is leaking you may have not set the float height correctly when you put that carb back together. Or the needle and set could be bad.
