SOURCE: Hoover WindTunnel Canister: Roller brush motor not turning

These motors have a fuse incorporated in the field winding and it sounds like that blew. These motors sometimes overheat at the front bearing and the bearing will melt into the plastic housing. This will cause the fuse to blow. It sounds like that's your problem. You can remove the motor by removing the three screws on the bottom of the powerhead and then check the front bearing for any bubbling or blistering in the plastic housing. The shaft of the motor should turn easily.

SOURCE: replacing a fraayed and twisted power cord on a Hoover windtunnel upright

ok so I took this vaccum apart completely except for the electrical and motor systems. It seems to me that without dismantling both of these systems on the vaccum you can't replace the power cord. And I wouldn't recommend taking them apart unless you know what you are doing since replacing the power cord seems to require cutting the old power cord and soldering the new one onto the old terminals. All in all its probably easier to get a new vaccum altogether.

SOURCE: auto brush on hoover windtunnel doesn't spin anymore

I have a Windtunnel S3765 with the same problem - and it has very little use so I'm confident it isn't wear. I find that the wheels do not raise the agitator brush sufficiently high to reduce the drag caused by excessive contact with the carpet. If I raise the front a bit the brush spins as it should. It also works if I take the housing apart and use it without ..... but this is tricky.

Unfortunately I haven't figured out a way to hold it up efficiently. I am toying with afixing something to the bottom of the housing to raise the front enough to give the brush a little more room.

SOURCE: Hoover Windtunnel shuts off

I found the following solution on this website. I have searched for hours and finally found this solution, it works! I HAD the same problem after cleaning the filter mentioned below, it is now working like it was new.

***by maverick_bea***
yes this machine has a thermal protector in it to shut off the machine if it gets to hot, this is normal. if there is no clogs in the hoses or in the machine then you will need to wash the filter at the top of the machine. you will have to remove the dirt cup and at the top you should see a half moon orange, well inside of this piece is the washable filter, clean and let it dry completly before putting back into machine. if this gets dirty and has not been cleaned, you can lose alot of suction. in some cases if this filter is not cleaned it can cause the machine to overheat so bad that it can damage the motor.

SOURCE: How to replace power cord on Hoover WindTunnel upright vacuum

The aforementioned solutions probably never even attempted this fix on this model. The handle does NOT need to come off. but the 5 screws on the front housing DO: 2 above the light and 3 below it. Then to get the colored housing off you need to access 2 screws on the underside that are beneath the agitator roller. To do that, obviously the 4 screws holding the bottom plate need to come off too. Here's a link to a schematic that might help as you attempt to do this, (assuming that you still do!) http://www.elkypro.com/hoops2005/vacuum_parts/hoover/U5461-900.html

Once you have the main body housing cover off, then you can access the 2 screws atop of each trunnion cover that holds the motor assembly cover halves together. If you've made it this far, then gently pry apart the motor halves keeping even as yo do. Now you can see all the wiring necessary to cut and splice. Happy cord replacing! As for me, I am headed for the store, as I am not so sure I can remember how to get the darn thing put back together. But it was fun taking it apart!

Replace power cord on Hoover windtunnel vacumm

There are many different models of Hoover Windtunnel so I can't be specific to your model, you will need to determine where the cord enters the unit and how to gain access to the internal wiring. Disconnect the old cord and attach the new cord using the proper connectors.

How to replace a cord on hoover u5757-900

u5757-900, Hoover mach 4.7 vacuum: The power cord connects at the top of the machine, literally right behind the entry point of the cord. You don’t have to take any of the rest of the vacuum apart. I found that out after I did take the entire machine apart. The wires can be connected with pressure connectors.

Need to replace power cord on Hoover windtunnel need wiring help

without seeing this it would be difficult to describe. I would take it to a vac shop and let him show you. there are no real schematics for the wiring of these units. I usually would cut off the cable with a few inches of insulation to know where to install the new one and reuse the old terminals if needed.

Replacing power cord

I replace one on my U6439-900. I took the back cover off and had to cut the wires and put new wire nuts on. Then I secured them really well with electricians tape. Might help to even put on a zip tie around the wiring. Hope that helps.

Hoover Windtunnel

If it goes in just at the bottom of the handle, take off the handle, then remove the tool holder, then you can replace the cord. If it goes in near the bottom, then you will have to remove the motor cover and light to get to the connecting wires.
