You run your hot wire to the switch (brown) and black wire to the pump (+ve connection). Then from the pump run another wire to the negative terminal of your battery. I used to use a toggle switch on mine, but I do not use a starter motor, still all the lights, radio and echo sounder are connected to it (via a junction box).
