What i would suggest is get another wifi receiver dongle if that one fails its probably your laptop needs repairing if you have a friend that has one you can borrow from or you can get them cheap on ebay i had the same problem with a laptop and i just plugged in a dongle i got on ebay and it worked it doesn't have to be a lynskys it can be any wifi dongle receiver if tht fails your router might be damaged your ISP provider may be able to help you determine the problem for free they can run tests with you over the phone too see if the signal is reaching the router or maybe you could try hard wiring the laptop to router with an ethernet cable see if that picks it up if tht does its either the router or dongle or you might have broken the wifi built into your laptop... Hope some of this helps..Sean

Wi- fi

I would say you have a problem with the router unless you are not reading the situation correctly, the other alleged connections will not be accessible for any reason unless you are the one paying for that connection, it would be illegal otherwise, so i am going to assume that you have a faulty router.

I have a WRT610N Linksys Router. I suddenly have an unresponsive router where I can't get online or connect to the routers setup or preference menu. I get error messages of the Media being disconnected...

Depending on your needs as to the type of router, there are a few different ways of finding the problem/repair/replacement.

I used to have a Linksys N router, that I had connection with a wiFi tower system and it worked great. I got it at Walmart for $49.00 but do not know if they carry them anymore, or not.

Routes can be found many places, and depending on what you need counts, as for WiFi, or hardwire.

I found this on the net, you may want to try it:

How to connect my Linksys router with my wi tribe modem?? my laptop pick up the wireless signal and can connect,,it says "connected" but when you open a page it says either "invalid server...

The Linksys Wireless router is fine, but your latop is not configured for DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol). The computer is connected to the router at layer 2, whereas HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol), sits
atop the TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) layer, and seems to be trying to
query the ISP's (Internet Service Provider) network for a nameserver (via DNS (Dynamic Name Service) protocol) that doesn't exist on the ISP's network. Configuring the laptop for DHCP and specifying no nameserver will fix this (the ISP's network will dynamically assign a DNS).

Its also possible (though a remote possibility) that your Linksys wifi router may be configured to disallow TCP/IP virtual circuits to/from your computer's IP address - but this is a really advanced
capability of your Linksys wifi router - few know this capability even exists.

Connecting multiple wifi devices to the Linksys router should be no problem, just configure them all to interact with the router using DHCP.

Can not connect ipad to router

If your Linksys wireless router is already setup with a wireless network, do the following to connect the ipad to the network:

Tap the Settings icon on the home screen of the iPad. Go to General, then Wifi. Once in the wifi section, you should see available wireless networks. Choose the network that is setup on the Linksys and connect to it. Enter the password if you have one set on the wireless network and tap join.

If your linksys is not setup with a wireless network, consult the manual for it to configure it properly.

The IP address 192.168.1.1 is normally used by Linksys broadband routers. Type 192.168.1.1 in your browser and it should connect you. Here is a link for the default usernames/password assuming that you haven't changed the defaults: http://www.routerpasswords.com/

I have a Linksys 5-port switch connected to a cox cable modem and I'm trying to use it to connect two computers at the same time. Only one works at a time and I have to reset the switch and modem to get...

Because the cox cable modem will only bind to one mac address (computer). You need to purchase a router, any router linksys, dlink, will do, get a wireless one so you can setup wifi as well. Plug your cox cable modem into the wan port on the router, plug your pc into one of the ethernet switch ports, you can use your web browser IE to login to the router and secure your wifi signal, power cycle your modem to make it bind to the new router. Most linksys dlink are programmed for a class c network, you could in theory put 254 devices, computers on your connection now.

Lenovo laptop cannot seem to find the linksys wireless g. we have two WIFI at the office one is linksys VOIP (secure) and linksys wireless G (unsecure). why is it that lenovo laptop only sees the secure...

make sure that the linksys VOIP(secure) router is broadcasting it's SSID or signal, otherwise it will not reflect even if you refresh the wireless network. If the router is broadcasting SSID but the lenovo laptop is not detecting it, try to re-install the wireless software for the laptop using the software from lenovo.com, just click Support then Downloads and drivers.

Cant get wireless to work

Hi,

Since your ISP is new, you need to do a reset on the router. Reset involves pressing a small recessed button at the rear of the unit for about 10 seconds or more.

On the Vista PC, pls verify that it is set to Auto obtain IP add and to connect to your router/WiFi network even if the network is unsecured.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa..
