SOURCE: KENMORE FRIG MODEL 106.57572790 FRONT CENTER METAL

I feel heat/warmth on the front edge of my refrigerator....why?

Older refrigerators had electric heaters on the edges of the refrigerator cabinet to help prevent moisture from building up, especially in the hot/hazy weather in the summer time. These electric heaters usually had a switch where you could turn them on or off...had words like..."switch here to prevent moisture"...switch here in damp weather".... in the picture it is in the top left of the control assembly.

Then along came the energy crunch. The manufactures stopped using the electric heaters and started running a pass of the hot condenser tubing on the edges of the cabinet where the electric heaters use to be. This is often called a yoder loop tube SxS version and the yoder loop tube Top freezer version. This has now replaced the electric heaters. If you feel heat/hot around the door opening of your refrigerator you should....

- clean the condenser coils as a dirty condenser can make the tubing hotter than normal

- check/clean & replace if necessary the condenser cooling fan ( # F ) motor, if the condenser fan motor is slow or has quit the yoder loop pass will get very warm/hot to the touch

- If the condenser coils are clean and the condenser fan motor is running ok, check the fresh food and freezer section temperatures...if the refrigerator is not operating well and the temps inside are warming up, you could feel more heat/warmth than normal

I have a Lg double door fridge with water and ice dispenser at front. Lights go out and won't work until I unplug fridge

You mean unplug and replug, yes?

It sounds like something is being reset. This should reset on its own if the door is left closed for a while.
Some frigs have a timer on the light so that if the door is left slightly open the light which gives off enough heat to defrost the frig or freezer will shut off after a time. Make sure the door is closing and that the seal is holding. A large door can sometimes shift on the hinge and go out of alignment. Measure the projection of the edge of the door from the face of the frig box. It will be a few inches (thickness of the door plus rubber seal to the frig box). This measurement should be the same all around the door. If it is not close to the same the door has shifted. If you are handy figure out which hinge has moved, loosen the screws, adjust and retighten. If you are not so handy, this could make things worse real fast. It is like adjusting cupboard doors in that you make the top right corner go in by pulling the bottom left corner out, for example.

The switch can easily be tested by pushing on the switch when the door is open. If you have one switch per door, it turns the light on and the fan off when the door opens. If you have two switches per door, one turns the light on and the other turns the fan off.

While the frig has your attention, pull the grill off and very carefully vacuum the dust off the radiator looking thing and all around. Wait for the evaporaror fan to stop running! This will greatly improve the efficience and lengthen the life of your frig. Your instruction manual will actually tell you to do this... If you have a dusty house do this every couple of months. I've got a pair of subzeros that are now 27 years old. I just had one of the doors shift and ice was forming on the back wall inside.

Samsung RS2530BSH front corners and sides of the cabinet abnormally hot.

One some newer refrigerators, the manufacturer runs a loop of refrigerant tubing up and around the corners of the door seal area. While the refrigerator is running, this tubing will get somewhat warm--even hot if the room temp is hot like in summer. What this tubing and heat does is keep the door seal areas from sweating like a glass of water with ice cubes in it. If it is extremely hot, too hot to touch I would call for service and have it checked out. Some heat is normal.

I have a GE PDS22S refrigerator. The surface of the unit around the front of the freezer compartment is extremely hot--the front surface between the refrigerator and freezer is so hot I could not hold my...

My older frost free GE Profile gets VERY hot on the sides and on the top during part of the cycle.
Is your temp indicator picking up the heat from the cycle? Check actual temp using a thermometer...hardware store should have one.
Are doors competely closed on the unit? No Food or plastic wraps/bags in the way?
Is the fan working properly, not squeaking or squealing?

Frig door does not stay closed

When you say that it will not stay closed, what exactly do you mean? That the door seal does not meet the cabinet, that there is a gap? Is the door warped? Does it appear to be out of line with the hinges on the top and bottom? Is the space around the door when shut and looking at the front pretty much equal all the way around? I mean, when shut, does it appear that there is about 1/4 to 1/2 inch of the cabinet showing all around the door when shut? Has someone swung or leaned or tugged on the door, or closed the door or tried to close the door and something was keeping either the top or the bottom pushed out? There are adjustments on the hinges, at the attachment points to the cabinet and to the door itself. You may be able to adjust the hinge plates in or out and up and down to make the door seal better. And the box should be about half a bubble out of level, front to back, or with a slight angle front to back, in order to help the weight of the door seal to the cabinet of the refrigerator. If the door is warped, you may be able to determine which way it is bent, out at top, out a bottom, side to side, ect. and take it off the hinges and gently attempt to straighten this bend. If you are careful, and can determine there is warping at the top or bottom, you may be able to "straighten" the door while attached to the hinges. Gentle pressure is the procedure, GENTLE, GENTLE. Don't get the BIG HAMMER out and go to banging away. Just a push up here, and a tug down there, and you may be able to cure this fairly easy. You must first determine which way the door is warped, and then move it back the other way. It should seal the gasket to the cabinet, not so much attach the door to the cabinet edges, but a firm seal that takes a tug to open. And no air gaps. Are the products inside the refrigerator "sweating". This is the drawing of warmer room air into the cabinet and condensation forming. The door needs to seal in order to keep the cold air in, and the outside air OUT. I an extreme warping, you may have to replace the door, or use bungee straps to keep it shut. which will be a pain, removing those every time you need in it. I would try and determine where it may be bent or warped, and gently bend it back the other way a little at a time till I have the seal connecting all the way around. Once there, QUIT. No more bending. When the seal connects all the way around, you are finished. Problem solved. I wish you luck and hope that you can solve this fairly easy. Remember, be Gentle. It will warp easily. And no hanging on the door!

Center front partition is very hot!

Either your coils are dirty ( clean from the front after removing the kickplate , only what you can get to ) or , the condensor fan motor is bad ( motor which cools the compressor ) .

Divider strip between fridge and freezer is hot

First take the grill off at the bottom under the doors look at the grate under the frig That is your condenser it will probably be covered in dust clean it off the see if you can fill air blowing under the frig there is a fan under there that keeps that coil cool and it runs around the door to keep condensation from build around the doors if no air is blowing take the back panel behind the Frig and there should be a fan running if the compressor is running this will also cause the compressor to over heat and will not cool as well but it might just need to be cleaned Good luck

Water on btm of glass shelves and water in bottom of frig

sounds like you have a gap in the door seal, which results in condensation forming inside unit. Use a blow dryer to heat the seal around the door and ensure that the fit is tight.
