Dell dimension 3100 wont load to main screen

You may need to roll back system with System Restore. Under Safe Mode (press F8 during boot and choose Safe Mode). Win 7 - Start > Search type System Restore. XP - Is Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Restore. Now choose a date prior to problem. You may have to try a few dates. Uninstall last program(s) that was installed, again in safe mode.
Try disabling startup programs. Go to Start > Run (search in Win 7) and type MSConfig. In Startup tab, uncheck anything that you don't want Windows to load automatically. It will make Windows boot faster and use less resources while running. This just disables them in startup. Programs will still load, but when only you initiate.

When I turn on my Dell Latitude D600 PC, the windows xp loading page appears. After it has loaded the screen turns black and does not make any further progress.

It appears that your display works fine until Windows XP loads. Try tapping the key when powering on the laptop. Select boot in safe mode and see if the laptop works. Here's a description of safe mode by Microsoft.

Safe mode is a troubleshooting option for Windows that starts your computer in a limited state. Only the basic files and drivers necessary to run Windows are started. The words "Safe Mode" appear in the corners of the display to identify which Windows mode you are using. If an existing problem does not reappear when you start in safe mode, you can eliminate the default settings and basic device drivers as possible causes.

If you don't know the cause of the problem, you can use the process of elimination to help you find the problem. Try starting all of the programs you commonly use, including the programs in your Startup folder, one by one, to see if a program might be the cause of the problem.

If your display works in safe mode then you have a video driver issue or virus or software issue.

When we set the font it prints for about 2 pages , then returns to the 17 font. We need the 10 font to be able to read the huge amount of items printed. Any way to get it to stay on the 10 font?

You didn't mention which document type or from which program you are trying to print but the commands for the printer are normally embedded invisibly in the document and sent to the printer to accomplish font changes, punctuation, etc.
We might have a better answer and a suggestion if you comment back to this thread with the name/version of the program that produced the document.

How do you load an envelope in the printer?

Hi, Please follow these steps to load :-
1.Turn on your printer. Make sure it is in ready mode (green status light on) and it is not printing or running any other operations.
  1. 2.Determine whether your printer uses a top-feed or bottom-feed. Blank paper stands upright in a top-feeding printer and lays in a tray on a bottom-feeding printer.
3.Load your envelope in portrait mode for envelopes that are 8.5 inches wide (standard paper size). Fold the flap down and place the envelope with the side to be printed on facing you. Load the envelope so that the side with the flap enters the printer first.
4.Load your envelope in landscape mode for longer envelopes that cannot fit in lengthwise. Close the flap. Load the envelope so that the left side enters the printer first (the flap will be on your left).
5.Set the paper guides. This guide is the sliding piece on your feed tray (it will usually be on the left). Slide it over so that the paper is held straight when it enters the printer.
6.Set up your printing preferences. Go to "File > Page Setup" or access your printer’s properties page. Under orientation, select portrait or landscape mode depending on how you loaded your envelopes. If your printer has this option, select “Left” for bottom-feeding printers and "Right” for top-feeding printers
7.Take a look at the "Print Preview" (usually found under "File" menu) and make sure everything looks good. Then print.
  2. Thanks!
