SOURCE: 1996 Mercury 150 Nitro EFI

Dont have the manual in front of me...recollect that there's two types of warnings. The pulsating warning is oil (starts with 30 minutes of oil left) or the fuel filter (or sperator, something like that) may have water in it. Running outboard with cover off, is a little black box that would have a red light lit if that's the case. If oil full & no red light, may be oil injection system...would also check to make sure lines aren't pinched, etc. Mine has been specific to oil the two times its gone off.

The full non-pulsating is engine overheat. Not sure beyond that.

Not much, but hopefully gets you going.

SOURCE: 60 hp manier motor was running great I turned the

This means a shear pin or rubber hub may have broken. Take the prop off and look at the center. If there is rubber kind of crumbling thats the problem. Or if you see something like a broken nail-thats a shear pin. However if neither is true then unplug the sparkplug boots. Put the throttle in forward and turn the shaft by hand. If it still freewheels the shiftrod came apart inside the housing. You may want to take it in because the attaching parts or something in the gearbox came apart.

SOURCE: when the boat is in

The last comment you made about the hose cuffs and running good- Was that in gear or neutral? If you are using the boats throttle lever there is a cam lever for the choke which limits the throttle. It may be out of sync in the control box. If you have operating cables disconnect them at the engine and see what range of motion you have in the motor itself. Then hook up the controls and see if the cables prevent the motor from opening the carbs.

SOURCE: outboard motor won't run under load

I have 1969 5hp Johnson. Starts and runs good, but will only push a 14ft row boat slow at low to medium rpm. When at higher rpm the the motor just revs up and the boat slows down to almost nothing just like it has seaweed around prop.Any help would be great.

Just bought a 73 Johnson 115 that's been stored for two years wondering what kind of Preventive maintenance should I be worried about before taking it out on the lake?

Change lower unit lube, use fresh gas mixture with added Seafoam. Run as before, but longer. You can download manual from the web. Has P.M. instructions.

Our great lakes spa seems to circulate non stop

Could be a bad timer that will no longer rotate to the "off" dog.

Or a stuck relay in the closed position for the pump.
either replace the relay or the board if you don't have individual relays.
Naturally, check for proper operation of the relay 1st, before replacing arbitrarily. But you have a direction to go into now.

I have a 1966 Johnson 20 hp model fd-20c outboard motor. It has low power. The motor is mounted so low that the pee hole is submerged nunder water when running. Could this be the cause of my low power...

Try mounting it properly, cavitation plate 1/2 inch below bottom of boat.An old motor like that many things could cause a lack of power.

I have around 1988 mariner 40hp new water pump still doesnt pump much water with hose hooked to it . u can put in the lake it works fine . whats the prolbem

The volume of water is less on the hose and water pressure in the lake is higher. You are also getting a different operating angle on the boat, because the transom is the low end of the boat.

The cuffs are just for testing and many of the new ones will indicate that you do not run the engine above idle with cuffs on.

Water pump 1989 Mercury 45hp

Definitely it should push out water all the time. It probably looks like more with the hose pressure feeding the motor. You should have water discharge in the lake at idle.

How do iI chose a fishing boat?

There are three styles of regular fishing boats; deep v, regular v or modified v. The v determines how well the boat cuts through the depth of the water. The deep v is better suited for large lakes because they can handle heavy waves better. Regular "v" is more appropriate for smaller lakes and a man made body of water. As the water is not as deep and the waves are not as heavy, this type of boat is able to handle the situation. The modified v is the most popular version. It is capable of handling speed best. Most fishing boats on the market today are made of fiberglass or aluminum. What is best for your fishing situation? Do you want to fish in large lakes or small lakes? The options are endless. There are several classes of fishing boats for different situations. All purpose fishing boats are great for your basic fishing needs. This type of boat has space for some bench seats, fishing gear and a simple steering station. They are made of either fiberglass or aluminum and are between 15 and 20 feet long. Another type of fishing boat is a bass boat, which comes fully equipped with space for rods and fishing gear. The boat is fully built with electronics and livewells. This boat also is made out of fiberglass and aluminum. The advantage to this type of boat is it is made especially to catch bass, fast. The third type of fishing boat is the center-console. It allows a fisherman to angle from any place on the deck. The control center is located in the center. Depending on the size of the boat they can be used offshore as well as near. Flats boats are mostly made up of fiberglass. The advantage of these boats is they allow easier angling access to saltwater flat fish. Another advantage it has is a poling platform that allows for fish spotting. Finally, a casting deck allows the angler to keep control. This makes this ype of boat convenient for fishing. The final category of fishing boats is the fun boat because it combines the motor of a yacht and the functionality of large a cockpit to work trophy fish and bring them on board. If ou are a fishing fanatic then it is important to have all the things that you need to make your fishing trip a success. Fishing boats are definitely the finishing touch to a nice fishing trip.
