SOURCE: washer will not spin

Could be a bad clutch or transmission. I would either call a tech or get a new washer (these newer GE models don't seem to be very reliable, go for a Whirlpool/Kenmore model next time). Here are breakdown diagrams for your washer: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=230151 Hope this helps, APP Tech

SOURCE: washer continues to work even if water is not filled to top and even if i try to stop continues to spin

A defective pressure switch can interfere with the cycles that depend upon the switch to indicate when water has filled or emptied from the tub. It can also result in underfilling or overfilling of the tub. The switch routes current from the timer control to the temperature switch and the water inlet valve when the tub needs to be filled. Once full, the pressure switch cuts the current and reroutes it to the motor on the timer control to continue the cycle.

SOURCE: The basket doesn't spin. I can hear water draining

you have a bad coupling.....This a a plastic and rubber part that connects the motor to the transmission.  A $20 part.

SOURCE: will not go in to spin cycle

Remove agitator (it will pop off when pried) then you will find your answer. Mine was a broken tub collar to shaft.

SOURCE: spin cycle starts, speeds up, then stops spinning

This fault often occurs when something (like a small coin or a paper tissue) has blocked the drain pump!
The only way to fix this would be to get a service engineer to remove the pump and check for a blockage, unless of course you are an experienced electrician or technician and don't mind doing it yourself.

Wont drain and spin

Check door switch: If the lid switch is bad it will not drain or spin. Try this test: With lid open let it finish wash cycle. Press lid switch down with screwdriver. Washer should begin draining. Release switch. Motor should stop. Press switch a second time. Washer should start spinning as it continues to drain. If motor doesn't come on while lid switch is pressed, replace the switch. OR

My Kenmore 400 washer does the following. If I start a wash cycle it goes through entire wash cycle without draining ever, just washes until it ends. If I lift and close the lid when the timer gets...

Loose screws on the lids right side not holding metal arm properly, or the arm is not positioned properly (the end which is pointed down when the lid is open needs to be slightly farther away from you, towards the back of the machine, to actuate the switch fully: or the lid switch itself which is underneath the top,

Kenmore washer mdl#110.23832100 spin cycle motor

Hello, looks like your lid switch is on it's way out, replace it...you will find it normally about half way down under the lid. If not there you will find it in the control panel on the right side next to the water level control. The reason it works some times and not others is because some times it fails to push the lid switch down far enough to engage. the lid switch is a safety divice inteneded to stop you opening the lid while in a high speed spin. If you have any other questions please feel free to comment again. Mike

Washer agitates, drains OK, but spin doesn't start

Timer is defective. Your unit has a netural drain. When finished agitating, the shuts down and then starts up reversing to drain and spin. On the initial reverse start, the water drains without the transmission spinning. After a timed period 3-4 minutes, the timer is supposed to pause, stopping the motor for a few seconds. When the motor stops again, the transmission shift to the spin cycle and when the timer resumes power tothe motor it should spin. You are doing the same thing when you lift the lid...stopping the timer and then the tranny shifts and when you set the lid down, the washer spins. Replace the timer.......

Maytag Atlantis washer will not drain and spin unless you lift the lid

The cheaper thing to check first is is your lid bent? The lid switch is in the center of the lid. If it "droops" or has been bent, it shaft on the back of the lid cant hit the switch. Open the lid and apply pressure in the bottom, center of the lid. This usually corrects the problem without replacing the switch.
