SOURCE: haier washer machine HLP23E makes a noise

A washing machine may wiggle, rattle or move across the floor. It is often accompanied by excessive, or loud noise. There can be several causes and the problem is worse with some units more than others. The most common cause is an unbalanced wash load. Open the lid/door, and attempt to redistribute the clothing to balance the weight. Heavy loads, especially things like comforters, are more likely to become unbalanced than small loads. If you do a lot of heavy loads, you should consider a heavy duty/large capacity washer when it comes time to replace your current unit. A washer must be level both from side to side as well as from front to back. Washing machines have adjustable feet to enable you to level them. See your manual on how to level your washing machine. The outer tub/basket, is supported by springs, pistons or counterweights to keep it balanced. The weight of all that water in a wash load requires a powerful balancing mechanism. If the balancing system becomes detached from one or more points, it will not be able to balance the load properly. Furthermore, even if everything appears to be in place, as the appliance ages, the springs or pistons/shock absorbers, may begin to wear out and not support as much weigh as needed.

Unplug the washer and open the cabinet. Because of the variety of balancing mechanisms, you will have to inspect your machine to determine how it is balanced. Once you discover the mechanism, then inspect it for integrity. In the case of old parts that appear to be in working order, you may not be able to tell if they need to be replaced. They may be weak but appear to be in good condition. If no other solution resolves the problem, then replacing the balancing springs or other moving support parts may be the best action.Another common cause for excessive movement, or clunking, is the floor on which the washer rests. The washer is heavy and even more so when filled with water. Any floor, other than a concrete slab, will tend to pick up and amplify the vibrations from the machine. There are a couple things you can try. If you have access to the joists under the floor, you may be able to beef up the support. Another thing to try is placing a large sheet of plywood under the washer. It should be 3/4" or even 1" thick and as large as possible to distribute the weight. Use a sheet big enough for both the washer and dryer to sit on. If possible fasten the plywood to the existing floor.

NOTE_ Verify That the shipping system including shipping bolts, spacers and cables are removed. This is a common issue when a new washer is installed.

Hi I also have the cabrio wtw5500xw0. It flashes sensing, wash, done as the code. In normal cycle it will wash not rinse or spin. Sometimes I can get it to spin in the drain and spin cycle. Thanks

There are several ways to fix a machine that will not spin or drain:
Step 1: Perform a master reset
This is the first thing a person should try. Unplug the washing machine, and leave it this way for about 1 minute. Plug the machine back in, and close the machine door six times in 12 seconds to send a message to the computer to reset everything. It may not work on all washing machines, so consult the repair guide to see if it will work for this particular machine.
Step 2: Fix the lid switch
If the lid switch has become defective, it is necessary to remove it from the machine. Consult the machine's repair guide to see where it is located and how to take it out. See if the switch works when it is used to open and close the machine door. If it does not, the lid switch needs to be replaced.
Step 3: Check the water level control if the machine isn't spinning
Open the control panel, and look for the water level valve. If the plastic tube attached to it appears clogged, vinegar can clear it up. If the switch itself appears corroded, it may be necessary to replace it.

Washer will not go into the spin cycle

If the machine runs through everything and just stops full of water at the spin cycle your lid switch is probably bad. Its either located under the lid when you open it on the right hand side, or under the control heading. If its there just open the lid and listen for a clicking sound when you open and close, if you don't hear that the switch is broke.

My washer wont spin or agitate. WHen I looked the motor coupling was busted and disenegrated so I replaced it. It still will not spin or agitate. HELP

Hello,

Did you remove the case to repair the coupling? It sounds like your lid switch was left disconnected. On newer model machines it will not wash or spin with the lid open, so when the switch is out it will just fill up with water and stay there. Even if you just flipped the machine over there is a chance the lid switch got jarred or broken. On a Whirlpool machine the switch is normally located under the control panel and can be accessed by removing the two screws to flip the control panel over. Make sure it's connected and check to see if it's working properly.

Hope this helps, let me know if you need more support.

Frigidaire FWS833AS1 - My washing machine recently stopped and wouldn't start spinning during the wash cycle. It will drain, just not spin. Also, it will do the wash and rinse cycles if set manually but...

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. The smell might be due to burning of lid switch. If the washer isn't spinning then it might be dueto a Lid switch or due to a bad motor coupler. You can check for the lid switch& replace it--

First unplug the washing machine. Then remove the two screws that hold the top consolein place; these are located in back of the main console (where the dials are).Once removed, the entire console swivels back, exposing the wiresunderneath.

After this unplug the wiring harness that is connected to the washing machinetop flat surface. Now remove the two s-shaped brackets with a screwdriver byprying underneath. This will allow you to remove the main sheet metal framearound the washing machine. The lid switch assembly is located under the topconsole. Now, remove it and replace with the new assembly and put it backtogether.

Please look this schematicfor lid switch location(part # 50)--

No spin cycle

Sounds like its the lid switch. Look on the cabinet where you shut the lid. Chances are the switch is broke.

Good Luck.

Need to know about safety switch on washer lid

First, this machine has an electronic motor. Check to see if belt is broken. If not then unplug for 2 minutes, plug back in and open and close lid 7 times slowly. This will reset motor. A common problem with this machine. I dont think it is the magnetic lid switch.

Washer noy spining water out.....

First check to make sure there is nothing sticking through the holes in the basket keeping the tub from turning. (screws, nails, etc)
Next, tilt the machine back and turn the large pulley by hand. If you turn it one direction it will agitate, turn it the other direction and it should release the brake and spin the basket.
As you turn it the direction that releases the brake, you should see the brake just above the pulley raise up. If it is not pushing the brake up, you probably need a new pulley assembly.
If the brake release on the pulley is ok, the brake liner may have come apart and the brake will have to be replaced.
Post back with any questions. You can go to sears.com, click on parts, enter your model number and look at parts diagrams to get a better idea of how it is put together.
Thanks/Mike
