Here's How:

  1. If you are starting a new job, you may experience a lapse in coverage. You may decide to play the Cobra waiting game. The insurance company allows you to make your initial COBRA insurance payment within sixty days of your insurance coverage ending. If you are healthy and would not have any preexisting conditions on your insurance, you may choose to wait to make the payment unless you have an emergency. That way if you don't need to use the insurance you do not have to purchase it. This is not a good idea if you have prequalifying your conditions, since you may save money by having continuous insurance coverage.
  2. If you have lost your job or you have a new job with little or no health insurance, you may choose to continue to use your COBRA insurance coverage. You are allowed to use it up to eighteen months. However, since the cost of COBRA coverage is usually much more than other options you should shop around and compare rates and plans. You may be able to pick up a policy at much less independently, especially if you are single.
  3. You may pay your COBRA insurance directly to your insurance company or you may pay it to a COBRA administrative company. You should watch for the letter explaining the cost of the premium (which will be your previous cost plus the amount your employers paid as well), and where to send payment. You will likely be issued a new insurance card as well. Be sure that you continue to make insurance payments as long as you need the insurance. If you cancel the insurance early you will need to write a letter and contact the company to ccancel the insurance, simply stopping payment will not cancel the policy.
  4. If you opt out of the COBRA option you will receive a letter from your insurance company stating the dates that your were covered under them. This may reduce the waiting period on your new insurance. If you know far enough in advance you may be able to set up a high deductible policy to cover the period of time between insurances. This would help to eliminate a preexisting condition policy on your insurance.

Tips:

  1. The Affordable Care Act means that if you lose insurance coverage you could face serious fines and penalties. There are definite ways that the Affordable Care Act affects people in their twenties. You can take advantage of the different types of coverage that the act offers. Take time to choose the right option and to keep your health insurance. If you do not have health insurance, you can face fines and penalties.

The sabre1100 I posted has been jetted with a different jetkit than the pipes, do you think I need the cobra jetkit? ??????

Kits like cobra or sigmajet are great for tweaking, judge your present performance first and determine if you're in the ballpark; Is it responsive throughout the powerband? How's your exhaust looking? If the pipes are showing signs of getting too hot (chrome bluing, exhaust tips chalky white=too lean, tips black=rich).
On to the spark plugs. "Reading" a plug gives an excellent picture; after a somewhat aggressive run with out too much idling pull the plug and have a look at the porclean insulator just above the electrode gap. Best is a nice even cocoa brown. Black=rich, white=lean. I would suggest zeroing in thoroughly, then consider going above and beyond if you wish.

I have a cobra frs 120 that is squelching all the time

Squelching can be a sign of a bad or poorly charged battery, or it could be a sign of RF (radio frequency waves) in the environment where the radio is located, or lastly the radio could be in need of repair.
1st check your batteries. Trade with a known good radio and see if it clears up the problem. If so, replace the battery pack. It might also be wise to check your antenna for weather checks or other signs of an aging sheath, this too can cause squelching. Lastly, try setting all your radios to a different PL code to see if it will block the interference.

Cobra 25 lx shuts down when pluged in then won't power up

sounds like a thermal problem to me . Check out the reverse polarity diode first to see if its shows signs of being burnt . then take it to a tech and let him fix it.

Cobra 29XLR has no receive, no transmit, and meter light goes out when the mic is keyed.

If the PA works then the audio amp is fine. but normally when the one of the lights go out its a shorted capacitor.

What does vox and rog. Stand for on the cobra microtalk

VOX is the abbreviation for Voice activated transmission, and ROG is likely the abbreviation for Roger Beep, which is a small beep or series of beeps at the end of a transmission that alerts the other person you are talking too that your transmission has ended. this is mostly used when signals are noisy, as the beeps are a sure sign that you have finished your transmission.

I just need to know the meaning of each symbol for my cobra xrs 9685

X band is usually some electrical signal not to worry.
K band is usually a radar sign or machine that tells you your speed. (Small town Sheriffs use this band also because they cant afford newer technology)
Ka
means K band America- If you see this symbol slow down and look around.
Ku means K band Europe- If you see this symbol slow down and look around

I have never used my Cobra 8000 but need to use it immediately to post signs in my neighborhood re a dog I found. I opened the box, and there were no instructions. I have the gun and some staples. I can't...

The bottom portion of the stapler (the opposite side of where the staples discharge) should squeeze together and pull out, load staples tip up and reinsert the follower until it clicks.  Put on sign post and squeeze the handle.
Hope this helps
