Mighty Mule FM 500 installed less than a month, started opening by itself this evening. We have changed the remote codes from the factory settings and live in a rural area, so I doubt it is a frequency issue. It has been working perfectly up until this evening and the only thing new was a wind and rain storm that came through. The beeps are normal. It just all of a sudden opens and I can't find anything on this problem on their troubleshooting site.
Cathie,
Thank you for using GTO Products. If the gate opener appears to be opening by itself, then it's receiving an input from an accessory such as a transmitter, keypad, push button, exit wand, photo beam, loop detector, telephone entry system, etc.
By disconnecting these devices and reconnecting them back to the system one at a time, we can use a process of elimination to determine which device is causing the problem.
If you still need assistance, please call our tech support from the gate so we can help you troubleshoot. You can contact us at 800-543-1236 Monday - Friday from 8:00 AM to 6:50 PM EST

If you are going to DIY, I would suggest checking to find if you have a Johnstone Supply branch in your area, removing the motor going to them with it.
They carry a huge range of motors and often their price is less than half what a dealer might charge.
They appeal to tradespeople but I have never been turned away and have saved hundreds of $ over the years with them.
You might find your motor in their online catalog:

SOURCE: is the GTO-Mighty Mule gate opener compaticle with 2012 Chevrolet Silverado Universal homelink?
Its kinda hard but if you follow the info in the owners manual for your truck it works. It is not rolling code like a gargae door this is a dip switch on or off .
