I have a top loader, but this should work. I suspect that you have hard water and calcium has built up in the washer tub. Start the machine just like you would wash a load of clothes. Let the machine start to agitate. stop the machine. open the door and pour in two (2) cups of white vinegar. Start the machine again and allow it to agitate with the water/white vinegar mixture. Stop the machine before the empty cycle, turn the machine back to wash and allow the machine to agitate again. Do this about three times total before you allow the machine to cycle through the drain cycle. Check the machine for cleanliness. Allow the machine to fill again with clean water and add a little amount of lemon juice to get rid of the vinegar smell. The white vinegar should dissolve the calcium deposit.

How to clean a wash machine

Regularly clean the top and door of the washer to prevent the buildup of dirt and detergent. When you wash very linty materials, remove lint from the tub after removing the laundry. Soap deposits may cause laundry to smell bad. To solve this problem, fill the tub with water and add 1 pound of water softener or 1 gallon of white vinegar; then run the machine through the complete wash cycle. If the deposits are really bad, wash the inside of the tub with a solution of household ammonia and mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly and wipe the tub with liquid bleach. Caution: Rinse the tub thoroughly before wiping it out with bleach. Ammonia and bleach can combine to form a very dangerous gas.
Finally, run the machine through a complete wash cycle before you put any more laundry in.

How do I clean my washing machine? My clothes and the washer have a mildew odor.

Add the entire packet of "TIDE WASHING MACHINE CLEANER" directly into the tub (no laundry) and close the door.

Press and hold: SPIN SPEED & SOIL LEVEL buttons--then press POWER button.
Wait for door to lock.

Press the START button (6) times--this will fill the tub with hot water to the maximum setting when it stops filling.

Press the START button two more times--this will enable the tub to tumble.
After 3 hours--turn "off" the washer.
Turn the washer back "on".
Select the shortest wash cycle (usually "quick wash") and press "START". This will rinse out the tub.
This method of "TUB CLEAN" is *not* from a service manual but has been the best method for cleaning out LG washers more than a year into incorrect detergent usage.

After this--use the correct amount of "HE" detergent & perform a "TUB CLEAN" cycle every (4) months using the *tub clean* option on the control panel.

LG Steamwasher after wash cycle left dirty marks on clothes.

You may have some detergent residue inside the tub assembly. You should run a tub clean cycle and use some washing machine cleaner. You can get that at any hardware store. If you don't have a tub clean setting, use the sanitary wash cycle without any laundry inside. You must use the hot water setting for this to work. If you haven't done this in a long time, you may have to run this cycle at least once a week for a month to really clean the machine properly.

LG Washer WM2455H Tub Clean Problem

Yes, it's normal. It is a safety feature because of the hot water used during the tub clean cycle. It prevents the machine from opening while the tub clean cycle is in process.
