Samsung SMH9151W stopped working. Possible Magnetron issue.

Hi,

Test the thermostat to see if its open, this should be closed. If ok (I think it would be) replace the magnetron, this is common issue with all brand of microwaves. Magnetrons can fail or weaken over time and depending upon frequency of use. I hope this helps.

Samsung microwave malfunction

I too have this problem with my KitchenAid KHHS179LSS-5 model. Based on the owner's manual I located behind the grill which pulled off, the F7 Error code indicates that power to the magnetron was interrupted. You will want to make the following checks: 1. Unplug microwave oven or disconnect power. 2. After 40 seconds, check to see whether this solves the problem. 3. Unplug microwave oven or disconnect power. 4. Check resistance of the magnetron thermostat. 5. Check the magnetron. 6. Check wiring to the 1100W inverter and control system. See "Checking Inverters." 7. Plug in microwave oven or reconnect power. 8. Check operation of all interlock switches. Check door, hinge and cavity front alignment. Adjust as needed. 9. Unplug microwave oven or disconnect power. 10. If switches operate correctly, replace 1100W inverter. 11. If problem persists, replace electronic control. 12. Plug in microwave oven or reconnect power.

After removing the control display, there is a virtual zoo of connectors. So unless you repair microwaves on a regular basis, it may be difficult to ascertain which ones go to the magnetron thermostat. I will probably resport to shelling out the dough to get someone to fix it. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Samsung microwave not working

First check is the main fuse of the unit. On countertop units, you will need to take the shell off. The fuse will be close to where the cord comes through into the unit. OTR units, this main fuse is usually behind the control panel or possibly behind the vent. Usually the fuse is obvious if blown, otherwise test with an OHM meter, if open, replace fuse.
Some brands will also have a thermal cut-off fuse in the incoming voltage line to the control board. Older Maytags and Samsungs have this fuse in it. This thermostat looking fuse is usually above the oven cavity somewhere under the outside shell. Sometimes you can get to it through the vent of OTR models. Test with an OHM meter, replace if open.

I have a samsung smh7187 microwave over the range and in the middle of cooking it just shut off. The vent at the top of the unit is still open. The outlet is fine, other things work fine in it-I unpugged...

I would suspect the oven cavity's thermal cutout / thermostat, the magnetron's thermal cutout / thermostat, and/or the fuse.

We have the service manual and have uploaded it to our site here to help you.

Note that your model number's suffix may be different than this manual covers exactly.

I have a Samsung model 1032BB in my R.V. Starts up all by itself and then I can't turn it off/on; have to unplug it. Should I have it repaired or should I replace it?

Turbo vent won't turn off

This is usually caused by a shorted hood thermostat or a shorted triac on the control panel circuit board.

The hood thermostat is usually located on the floor of the microwave chassis behind the control panel. It should read "open" or "infinity" on a continuity or multimeter resistance test.

At our site, we now have a video available showing how to remove a typical control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

If the hood thermostat is bad, You can order Samsung parts here.

If you think the problem is on the control panel, we repair these nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in most cases.

Feel free to contact me directly for more information & help.
