We want to change the belt but we can't open
You have to lift up the back of the treadmill a little to access 2 phillips head screws that keep the motor cover on, (note that you will also have to unscrew a few phillips head screws on the bottom front of the cover as well in order to remove it completely). Before you begin lifting the back of the treadmill platform off the ground to access the screws underneath make sure the treadmill is on a zero incline setting and it helps to find a sturdy object you can rest the tail end off the treadmill on about 1 to 2 feet above the ground giving you enough room to access the screws underneath. Another option is to lift the treadmill platform all the way up and lock it in an upright position using the locking mechanism and lock handle that is located underneath the machine. I find this route to be unnecessary and cumbersome for what you want to do. Once you lift the treadmill up you will see the 2 small Phillips head screws near the front of the treadmill running platform that you need to unscrew in order to take off the motor cover. You also need to unscrew a couple small screws under the machine located on each side of the wood running board. These screw fasten the top inner plastic side covers onto the top of the running platform which needs to be taken off in order to access the back rollers. Make sure you collect the screws in a way that you will remember where they go later when you reassemble as this is your first time taking them out and you might forget later. Now with the bottom screws out, lower the back of the treadmill down level on the ground and pull off the motor cover, and the Left and Right INNER plastic running platform covers. With the inner covers removed you will find yet another small set of screws fasting the main plastic side covers to the running board which require an allen wrench to unscrew. Use the small wrench that came with the machine if you have it handy. With those off you can pull the main Left and Right plastic running board covers off, just make sure to carefully unsnap them from their snap points near the bottom rear of the machine. With all the covers removed you can now access the bolts that hold your treadmill rollers in place and the drive belt which you will have to slip on and off the motors drive pulley and the front roller using a pull and turn technique. The back rollers are simple and can be removed by unscrewing the tension bolts at the back of the treadmill and pulling the roller through and out of the belt. With drive belt set aside and all roller bolts removed you can take out the front roller in the same way you removed the back roller. Replace the treadmill belt and reassemble the machines components in the reverse fashion you disassembled them using these instructions. Doing this yourself will save you hundreds of dollars service man visits in the future.
