It is most likely cloged. Turns off to protect the motor. check hoses, wand, and intake hole in powerhead.

Almost all vacuum cleaners have a thermal cut-out, which operates when the machine gets too hot. It resets automatically when it cools down. Overheating is almost always caused by a blockage. Either the filters need cleaning or changing, or there's an obstruction somewhere in the pipe-work. Make sure all the pipes are clear so there's good air flow and you should be back in business. If the problem persists there may be trouble with the motor itself, in which case you'll need professional help (or a new machine). Good luck!

if its like mine there is a rod that comes out f the moter usually on the upper left of the power head put t the belt around that and then slip the belt over the beater bar. Then replace the beater bar. You will have to pull a little to stretch the belt.
