SOURCE: Maytag dishwasher

Hi kimleh.

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your question is: The dishwasher goes through the first wash cycle on a light setting and first two on a normal cycle but will not continue. The motor hums but does nothing else.It drains fine as well after the wash cycle.

Without additional info it sounds like a control problem. Must be a warranty call. If beyond warranty then you have to decide whether it's more cost effective to repare or replace it.

SOURCE: Dishwasher fills, when the pump is supposed to start it just whir

Hello, sounds like a broken wash impeller or a stripped drive impeller (the piece that fits inside the impeller). These two parts are driven by the wash motor and propell the water through the spray arms. good luck

SOURCE: maytag mdb6000awb dishwasher will not start the washing cycle

Well, I fixed it. (It might be too late for the first post - I hope not - but it will hopefully help the next person, SOLUTION: Using a six point star bit, I opened the inside door panel. I carefully removed the inside panel from the door and noticed two rectangular modular connectors that connect on eitherside of the door latch assembly. One of them was loose/disconnected. I reconnected the loose/disconnected modular connector. All is working now. My Model # is MDBTT60AWB. I hope it helps.

SOURCE: dishwasher comes on, fills with water, water

What is the manufacturer and model number of your dishwasher?
Depending on the model and design, the sprayer motor/pump has probably failed and the drain motor/pump is still working.
Recommend you pull the sprayer arm and filter. Look for debris that could be jamming the pump - watch out for broken glass when looking.
Make sure the impeller can spin and is not damaged.
If that does not fix the problem, replace the wash motor / pump or replace the entire dishwasher with an Energy Star qualified name brand model.
Good Luck!

Kenmore dishwasher: Pre-wash cycle is too short: fills with water, runs for only one second, and then drains. The rest of the cycle is fine; the dishes get clean.

Pre-wash may be compromised and a new power circuit board may be needed.
My advice: As long as the other cycles are accurate and work as usual; Pre-wash in your sink (spray off waste material) before you place the dishes in the washer and commence cleaning. Its best to wash off food and other material before washing in the machine to avoid clogging the drains and pump.

Samsung DW80F600UTS dishwasher fills then drains, doesn't go into wash cycle. smart auto & heavy lights are on

In addition to the previous answer!
More specifically, the pump triac fails. As a result, a situation may arise when the pump drains water all the time, even if there is no water, but the user hears the pump is running.
Triac on the control board can be rewired. But the one who understands electronics will cope with such work.

Whirlpool integrated dishwasher model ADG 7460 Have run the engineer test cycle and it stops and drains water after 2 mins; start light blinks 5 times.

F5 or 5 times flashing.
Variable speed motor failure.

Reason:
- Connection between Spray pump (Variable speed motor) and control board interrupted.
- Frequency converteron Spray pump broken or control board defective.

= Check the power voltage on the motor. BUS: 5V DC, Motor: 230V AC

Reaction: Cycle stops, drain pump drains out, failure indication.

OR

F5 or 5 times flashing.
SPM blocked (MPH motor unit)

Failure condition:
- This failure is only indicated during the active test program
- The electronic detects an irregular deviation of the motor current consumption.

Reason:
Spray pump blocked = check pump housing
Short circuit in motor or wiring = check motor values

Reaction: After 5 attempts to reactivate the spray pump motor the cycle stops, drain pump drains out, failure indication.

Why is my countertop dishwasher stuck in drain mode(s), and won't initiate or complete any wash cycle?

normally if a dishwasher fills then pauses it is trying to read the water level if it fills again it is trying get a reading from the pressure switch when it cant determine the water level it will drain to prevent it leaking, however you should get a error code for this kind of fault which makes me think it is the control board which is at fault by not being able to read the sensor rather than the sensor itself not working

I have a Kenmore dishwasher that will not pump water through the spray arms. It fills ok and drains fine but wont go into the wash cycle? Any idea of possible problems

Look inside of the dishwasher to be sure that the tubes leading to the spray arms are not disconnected. If those tubes are in place, then the problem is with the main motor/pump in the base of the unit. That Kenmore part is about $150.00 plus labor. That being said, it may be time to consider a new dishwasher UNLESS your dishwasher is less than five years old because there is a five year warranty on the motor/pump. If it is under warranty, call sears repair and they should repair it at no cost to you.
