We replaced my ge gas oven ignightor but the gas is building up and when its heating to the right temp the door blosw open

About a year ago we replaced the igniter in my ge gas oven and that fixed the first issue, for like a year but now the oven heats up but I guess the gas builds up in the oven and tonight it blew the door open and I ws getting ready to put the food in and fire came out and caught my bangs and my arm on fire when it did that. I made a big BOOM as the fire like exploded out. I am terrified to use this oven again, and will most likely buy a new one, but I really can't afford that, so what could this issue be and how can my boyfriend or I fix it? even calling an appliance repair guy out is almost as much as s new oven....

Sounds like the gas valve is leaking un plug the range and use a soapy water to find the leak

Testimonial: "thank you, I will try that but I am thinking this is a dangerous problem, I am going to see how much it would be to have someone come out and diagnose the issue for me, maybe I will check angies list. If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know."

here's what i discovered : I turn the temp control to warm wait for it to beep 3 times to signal it has preheated, then i turn it to 350 or whatever temperature I desire, no boom, no gas build up, believe it or not my son who is also on Fixya solved the problem and it works for me for right now, i have instructed everyone in the house to heat the oven up this way ONLY. not sure what all this means as to the problem, but it is working for us. if anyone else wants to tell me what they think please feel free. thanks

Oven cuts out with a bang when i turn it on ???

if you hear a big bang, and it wont light right away, it is normaly the ignitor thats going bad in oven. the ignitor has to get very hot to ignite the gas. orange in color. if this is the problem be very carefull not to bump the new ignitor on any thing, if you replace it yourself.I had the same problem last year, when trying to light oven it blew the door part way open because the ignitor was bad and the build up of gas caused this.

I would say your stove is old and the door closer springs are burnt out and shot. Yes if the door is open even a little bit the stove will not heat up. If the temp is not right the cakes will not bake right. Get a new one. or get a repair person to fix it. It will keep your wife happy.

Receiving F3 Code

HI, no need to replace the unit at this time. this is a Open or shorted oven temperature sensor (RTD).

Check sensor harness and harness connection between oven sensor and oven control. Replace oven temperature sensor (RTD) if wiring is ok.

Won't heat!!!

First, are the burners working right? It is possible that a breaker opened. Cycle your breakers off and then on. Its a shot....

How many elements in your oven? Sounds like one fried. Start the unit with the door open. See which element doesn't glow after a few minutes. Wait for cooldown, open the breakers and then remove it and take it to the appliance repair parts guy to test and replace. Funny...you should have gotten an error code.

Not that? It will likely be the thermister controlling your temp sense.
