If the clutch fails the first thing noticed is a UC or DC error displayed and there is no drain or spin.

If you are seeing the above error and having a problem with spin and drain then the most likely cause of this is the clutch. The clutch fails to lock down the spinners and the basket is unable to go into spin and without a 90 RPM there is no drain.

Replace the clutch.

Need to replace the belt going to the transmisssion powered by the motor. these act like a clutch for the unit. It is worn out and needs replaced.

transmission cost about $200,clutch is $70 you can get get a maytag centennial washer and dryer for $548

I sounds like this is a common problem with the Maytag Neptune TL after about 3-5 years. Mine finally went out yesterday after several months of bearings getting louder all of the time. It looks like the bearings and the controller are gone. What happened to washing machines that last 15 - 20 years?

Sounds like the clutch spring is broken. You should have a UC or DC error code showing on the display. Only fix is to replace the clutch assembly.

HI. this is usually caused by a faulty drive assembly(agitator gear components and clutch malfunction).

I recommend replacing the agitator components by purchasing a Agitator replacement kit. and, replace the clutch assembly as well. this will fix this issue.

no this machine has a thrust bearing not a clutch if the machine is not spinning well you need to replace the thrust bearing kit it come with a new drive pulley
