I have a Sony KD-34XRB960 that is still pretty much work perfect. However every week or two for a day the TV blacks out for just a few seconds, then when the picture and sound comes back on I see in the upper left Video 6 or 7 in my case, and in the lower left full for screen mode. some times the blink is so quick the picture and sound never go out but the Video 6 or 7 just pops up and the Full, for screen mode. It does this even when all components are unplugged. Seems the audio and video just drop out for a second. I really like this tv and it'ds been a loooooong time since I have worked on a TV, I am talking pre HD and earlier. Need some ideas as to what could be happening. I can simulate the problem by unplugging the device I am using, plug it back in and there is the Vidio and Full on the screen. Just like when I first power it up. I am not losing power though, at least not in the main power supply. Comments Welcome..
The main power supply regulator section circuit fault. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

ahh..the 16 blinker..that's a clear sign that your control board is having a terrible 'hair' day. How old is the TV?
SOURCE: sony wega wont power on. unplugged and tv fades on
It is likely the power supply may have faulty capacitors inside which is quite common.

Hello

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. Viewing it in "Mosaic" or "Magazine" will make surf easy.

Blinking codes details to many popular brand TVs are given. Surf the site with patience. Do a search by type in the brand name of the device to the search box.
Counting of number of blinks to Philips TVs is entirely different to that of other brand TVs. It is not a direct count procedure. The site have details about how to count the number of LED blinks [Fault Codes] to Philips brand TVs are given; along with details of the faulty circuit location.
