Weird midi

A few things to try:
1) if your oxygen is connected using a midi cable instead of a usb cable it could be that the midi cable is damaged.
2) you may want to try changing the preset of your oxygen: use the buttons on the oxygen, near the two digits led, to selelct a program between 01 and 15, this will change the values assigned to the knobs
3) you may have some kind of midi loop going on, try going to the preferences in ableton and disable all midi controllers (remote, sync, track) both in and out; then enable only the oxygen for track IN and remote IN which is actually all that you need.

When i turn it on all it will say is "MIDI restore

The unit has lost the operating system and is in a BIOS type program waiting for you the send in the operating system file via MIDI. Download the file from the manufacturer and connect the unit via MIDI to do the transfer. The manufacture's site should have the directions. BE VERY careful as this is likely a "flashing" of the internal program memory and you don't want to lose power while doing a flashing.

Tascam midi and audio conflict error

Hi,
First try turning off the onboard audio device using the BIOS interface. Try pressing f4, f2 or delete key rapidly at the flash screen beginning when you first turn on the computer. Look around in the bios (usually in "integrated periperals" area) and disable any onboard audio options that you see.
-In windows XP you can go to Control panel - Sound Devices and change the "map through" feature, select your default device, and run a hardware test simulation with a microphone for each device. Nice setup btw.
