I would recommend you inspect the washer with the exterior cover removed, so you can actually see where the leak may be coming from. The following link explains how to replace a drain pump on a Kenmore. I submit this to you, because it not only explains how to remove the exterior case of the washer, but in the event that the pump is leaking, it gives you the necessary steps required to install a new one. The pumps are sealed units and not servicebale. If they leak, they need to be replaced:

When you remove the exterior case, the washer will not operate without the lid switch by-passed. You will need to do this in order to fill the wash tub to see where the leak may be coming from. To by-pass the switch, you will need to unplug the washer and jumper the two black wires together at the lid switch connector on the timer. Use aligator clips on the connector pins to do this. With the lid switch by-passed, you can plug the washer back in and start a cycle.
Look for signs of leaking around the drain pump (located in the front under the wash tub) and all hoses. Also inspect the entire perimeter of the wash tub for any possible leaks. Generally, if you have a leak in the front of the washer, its a drain pump or drain hose connection. If you have a leak under the tub you may have a worn tub seal or cracked tub.
I hope you find this information helpful. Hopefully, you will not need any repair parts. If you have any questions, please let me know.
PS Use caution when operating the washer with the case removed. There are exposed electrical components and moving parts.

you could probalby get away with a marine epoxy to repair thecrack (depending on size) , althouth replacing the tub would be the best "feel safe" --- "no longer worry about possible floods". buthte cost and time to switch the puter tub is problably cheaperto buy new machine

Hi MPT,
Don't take the back panel off!!!
Watch this video to learn how to access the machine.
Generally on a Whirlpool built Kenmore like yours, the drain pump has failed and now it's leaking. The pump is right there in front, the big round white thing. It's connected to the motor by 2 clips. It'll be one of two types of pump... this one or this one <----notice the difference in hose connections?
It's easy to replace, just make sure that the machine is completely empty when you remove the hose or have a shop-vac handy when you do.
And don't forget to rate my solution as "FixYa", deal?
