First thing to check is the drum alignment to be sure that it has not shifted from wear. Open the door and reach in and see if you can move the drum up and down or side to side (not spinning) but pressing on it. IF you can then it needs to have some guides replaced. However if it is tight then you need to get a drier sheet or something similar and run it along every inch of that tub and the paddles and the back to see if it snags on something.

The dryer snags and tears up our clothes

Thank you for your post, friend!

From what you are describing it sounds like the felt may have come off your Frigidaire dryer. I would recommend seeking assistance from a professional to come out and properly repair your appliance. This would help avoid any unnecessary part purchases. -Matt

Dryer is "eating" clothes; how do we fix it?

I suggest you find someone to "get inside" the machine drum and find out what is damaging the clothes. I could not find the machine in "Sears Parts" to look at the drum. (They have pictures for most all US machines). I am not sure the drum might not need to be removed to repair it. There should be something there that is "snagging" the clothes and could be sanded down or smoothed somehow. If it has removable "paddles" to tumble the clothes, sometimes one could come loose and need tightening. I have seen heavy objects like large tennis shoes loosen a paddle.
Be blessed.

Electrolux gas dryer snagging clothes

Good Morning Friend,

I understand your Electrolux gas dryer, model# EIGD55HIW, is snagging and tearing your clothes. There is a possibility that the temperature is too high and you are overdrying your clothes. Make sure to dry your clothes on the correct temperatures and correct times. The other possibility is, the finish inside of your dryer has been scratched or chipped. This can cause a snagging or tearing of clothes. To prevent further scratching and chipping of the drum finish, make sure to always remove any foreign objects from pockets before laundering, as well as make sure zippers and fasteners are not hitting the inside of the drum. Hope this is helpful.

Eigd55hiwo dryer

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand your Electrolux dryer, model# EIGD55HIW0, is snagging your clothes. This can be caused by scratching or chipping of the drum of your appliance. There is nothing to stop this from happening other than changing out the drum. For future reference, you can help avoid this by removing foreign objects such as coins, pins, clips, or buttons, from all pockets. You will also want to be careful with belt buckles, zippers, and fasteners that may be hitting the inside of the drum. Hope this is helpful.

Clothes snagging

My advice would be to replace the drum...but if you're going to do that, you're better off just buying a new machine. A new drum will cost about half the cost of a new machine.

Clothes getting stuck

check the top drum slides and tub bearing slide support. it is made of plastic and when it or the slides wear out the drum will drop down enough for clothes to start snagging

I am having a problem with my Ge dryer catching my clothes somewhere in the front by the top of the door it rips the clothes when trying to get them free can you help

it may be snagging clothes on a sharp edge or flashing on the plastic light assembly overhead of the door. you might just need to take a small piece of fine sandpaper and remove the burr or sharp edge thats snagging stuff..

also one or both of the rollers in the front may be worn, allowing the drum to bear down on the seal more, opening a gap at the bottom to grab your clothes then pulling them around with it, you just happen to catch it when its stopped and sitting still just hanging there.. while u have it apart u might as well check the rest of the rotating parts out for wear, etc and replace while you have it opened up..
hope this helps,
best of luck,
ttfn
