Lay a socket on a table or bench.Lay the spring on the socket. Push the square nose piece thru the spring and into the socket forcing the spring open enough to push it into the groove.

I have a husky 1/2 inch air gun, I bought the 1/2 inch impact sockets, they do not attach... They appear to small. What is the problem?

At the end of the anvil there is a retaining ring with an o-ring acting as a spring which holds the socket to the anvil. Sometimes they need to be adjusted. You can try and compress the retaining ring slightly by using a channellock plier, adjust accordingly and squeeze slightly until you get the desired tension. If you still cannot attach the socket then you will have to replace the retaining ring and o-ring as a set.

Craftsman 1/2 inch air impact wrench i bought one and i don't see a chuck in the box nor do i see instructions on how to attach sockets....i've never had one before and don't want to sound like an idiot,...

  • There are no chucks with these newer impact wrenches. See that little ring on the tip of the socket shaft? That is a lock ring and that is what holds your sockets in place. You will want to keep a few 1/2 impact wrench lock rings around. There is a tool they make to aid in removing and replacing those rings but it is not necessary. You can use a small flathead screwdriver and walk the old one off and the same for replacing it. All you need to do is snap a socket on there real good and let'er rip.

I have just bought a Bosch GDS 18 E Impact Wrench second hand. My question is how do i keep the socket from falling off the anvil.

A hand ratchet wrench uses a ball to hold the socket on the shaft. Impact wrenches use a ring. The ring is needed for the high speeds.
There should be a groove on the end of the socket end. That groove should have a round or flat ring in it. That ring keeps the sockets from falling off. It is missing go to Bosch for a replacement.

How to remove the chuck of Black & Decker Drill BD154R?

You need to open the chuck and remove the bolt from the bottom of it[usually a #2 phillips].The next step is to insert a 5/16 allen wrench into the chuck and tighten the chuck.Hold the drill with the chuck facing away from you then strike the allen wrench with a hammer on the right side[so it goes down] and now you will be able to remove it by hand, good luck.
