Recently, when I was trying to dub a lady's sticky tape, I cleaned the tape to make sure it wasn't sticky and I rewound the tape in my VCR. The tape ended up snapping inside of the machine. What's worse it that, after I took the cover off and got the broken tape out, Fiddle on the Roof, Part II, any other tape I inserted into the VCR, the machine wouldn't wrap the tape around the head drum at all. Instead, when the tape was inserted, the tape would just sit there and eject just after a minute or so. Although, when I lean the machine up against the wall, the tape would load, but when I put the machine back on the ground, the machine wouldn't operate at all and eject the tape. So, whats wrong ad how can I repair this?

You have not mentioned the make and model number of the vcr. Any way the problem is due to end sensor or related circuit. End sensors are photo diods which you can check the shorting with a multy meter.
This happened last night on my new-to-me JVC SR-MV55. Even powering it off for five minutes didn't help. It apparently crashed during dubbing (couldn't create more than 9 chapter codes?).
Manual suggested holding down Stop and Power after powering it down. But no matter how long I held Power it wouldn't stop flashing. But I tried Stop/Powwer for a bit, nothing seemed to happen, then maybe 15 seconds later it restarted "WAKE UP'".
well one solution may be the speed you are recording at. L.P. recording on a dvd often creates this problem. but usually it is when you copy dvd to dvd, not mini dvd to dvd Never record more than 2 hrs on a disk there are programs for a work around that reprocess the dvd vob file with adjustments for the sync. could also be a hardware problem is your mini dv long play source as well?
Have you tried using a different brand disc. When I first purchased my DVM-600 it would not record on Memorex discs. I purchased TDK -R discs and all is fine. In the old-school analog world, all specific format tapes were computable to all machines. In other words, a VHS tape recorded in your VHS recorder will play back in my machine and every other VHS machine. Because the DVD format has so many formats and standards, compatability issues are quite common.
On page 63 of the .pdf is the page titled "Manual Dubbing (From VCR to DVD)" that will walk you step by step through the process to accomplish what you want to do.
