My dyson dc25 has reduced suction at the base, suction is fine at the wand

This is a guess but I have experienced it on other vacuum cleaners I have owned.

Check the hose that connects the at the base for breaks. Not just the easy to disconnect one connected to the wand, the one that goes into the head, if you are sure there are no blocks I can only imagine this being a possibility

dyson does offer a 5 year warranty if you have not past this age it might be worth sending out.
Stinks having issues with such expensive devices.

If the handle gets uncouples from the base, how can I get it back in?

Good Evening Sally

The manual for the DC-24 can be found here
https://www.dyson.co.uk/medialibrary/Files/Dyson/Support/downloads/UK/floorcare/Manuals/DC24_Manual.pdf

it takes you through how to detach and re-attach the accessory wand to the rest of the system. Between that, and showing where you can take parts of to check for blockage, you should be able to get it back on.

Good Luck!

Dyson DC28 - when using this in "carpet mode", I can hear and feel tons of suction being pulled through the wand, even though the wand is properly stowed as the handle for "carpet mode". And when this...

There's no switch per sey, but there is a clutch activation knob, on the right side of the base, as you're standing behind the unit. There should be a Carpet or Hard floor setting, just two. Twist it to change from one to the other. However, all this is meant to do, as far as I know, is to turn on the brush roll or turn it off, by means of a clutch system. I don't think it has anything to do with the wand assembly.

No suction when using wand on electrolux precision upright

There is a ball valve between the wand hose and the base hose. It can get stuck in the "base" mode, which won't then redirect suction to the wand hose. There is a spring under the cup that the open end of the hose rests in. When you release the wand from the holster with the one-touch quick release, that spring pushes the cup up and turns the ball valve to the wand setting.
  1. Unplug the vacuum.
  2. Using the one-touch quick release, remove the wand from the holster.
  3. Verify that the wand "cup" is indeed in the higher position. Do this by pushing on the bottom of the cup with your finger. It should easily depress.
  4. Remove the wand hose from the main unit using the quick disconnect feature. Put your fingers into the hole and feel to the right. You will feel the closed valve, verifying that it is stuck in "base" mode.
  5. Using a screw driver, insert the tip at the TOP of this valve and gently pry it downward. This shouldn't take much force.
  6. Reassemble the hose wand using the quick connect feature and reholster the wand.
  7. Plug in the unit and verify that the base unit has suction.
  8. Remove the wand from the holster and verify IT has suction.

I have a DC27 and the extension hose that pulls up for cleaning higher places is stuck. I can pull it up about 4 or 5 inches and it will not come any further. Is there an easy solution to this?

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC27. If the wand seems to be jammed, you should be able to free it by following these steps:

  • Pull up wand as far as it will go
  • With the rear of the cleaner facing you, follow the hose down to where it attaches at the base of the cleaner
  • Holding the loose section of hose to the side, pull the hose release tab to detach the end of the hose from the cleaner
  • Allow any twists in the hose to straighten themselves out, and check for any blockages in the hose which may be preventing the wand from extending
You should now be able to pull the wand out to it's fullest extent, allowing it to detach from the cleaner. Once you've reattached the hose to the base of the cleaner, you should find the problem is resolved and the wand and hose can be used as normal.

If you've tried this and are still concerned, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly. One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you, and recommend the best course of action. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).

Dyson dc27 (not ball version) extension wand will not release from the body. Have had the the vacuum cleaner for a year and it has been fine until now. Have tried disconnecting aluminium tube from the hose...

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC27. If the wand is jammed, it's likely that the hose was twisted when you replaced the wand on the cleaner the last time you used it. It's easy to rectify:

  • Pull the wand up as far as it will go
  • With the rear of the cleaner facing you, follow the hose down to where it attaches at the base of the machine
  • Grip the section of loose hose and pull it away from the cleaner
  • Holding the loose section of hose out of the way, pull the hose release tab
  • With the base of the hose detached from the cleaner, allow the hose to straighten itself out
  • Reattach hose to cleaner
You should find following these steps untwists the hose, allowing the wand to move up and down without restriction. However, if you need further assistance, please get in touch with us free so one of our experts can run through some troubleshooting checks over the phone with you. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).

How do you disengage the wand, it is stuck? Can not pull it out.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC28. If you're having trouble removing the wand, the hose may have been twisted the last time you replaced the wand on the cleaner after use. To release it, try following these simple steps:
  • Pull up the wand as far as it will go
  • With the rear of the cleaner facing you, follow the hose down to its base, then stretch the loose section of hose away from the cleaner
  • Pull the hose release tab to detach the base of the hose from the cleaner
  • Allow the hose to untwist itself
  • Reattach the hose to the cleaner
You should find that by detaching the hose and allowing it to straighten itself, the wand is able to move freely. However, if you're unable to do this, please get in touch with us directly so we can help you further. You can call us free on 1866MYDYSON, or email [email protected]. One of our experts will be happy to provide the assistance you need.

I have a Dyson Animal DC28 and the wand won't pull out. This has just happened out of the blue - I was using it with no trouble up to now. I pull up and it just gets stuck. Any help would be...

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC28 Animal. From what you've described, it sounds as though the hose may have been twisted the last time you replaced the wand on the machine. This is easy to resolve by following these steps:
  • Extend the wand upwards as far as possible
  • With the rear of the cleaner facing you, follow the hose down to where it attaches to the cleaner
  • Whilst stretching the loose section of hose away from the cleaner, pull the hose release tab to detach the base of the hose from the cleaner
  • Allow the hose to untwist itself
You should now be able to pull the wand out to it's fullest extent, removing it from the cleaner. Once you've done this, simply reattach the lower end of the hose to the cleaner.

If you have any further questions, or if you'd prefer someone to talk you through this process, you can call us free on 1866MYDYSON.

We have the Eureka EZ Kleen upright. We have suction through the hoses but not the main vacuum. The brush turns fine but the vacume does not **** anything up.

THE HOSE BETWEEN THE DETACHABLE WAND AND THE BRUSH ROLLER AREA MUST BE CLOGGED WITH CARPET FIBERS. CLEAN IT OUT AND IT SHOULD WORK.
