How is the back cover removed on a Sylvania 37" LCD TV LC370SS8?

I'm trying to remove the back cover to possibly replace a capacitor. I took all the screws out and took it off the stand but still can't get it open.

SOURCE: removing stand to mount on wall

Just called the company and was told that you simply remove the 4 screws on the back of the stand that is holding it to the tv....They do NOT recommend mounting the TV because it will make your warranty ineffective-per the rep.

SOURCE: I have a Sylvania LC370SS8

I had a similar problem with my Phillips 42 in. LCD HD TV.

Here's the problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened my TV up(warranty was up of course) and found several bad capacitors. Phillips and several other companies were sold capacitors that although were highly rated failed within 5 years because of a lack of preservatives. All sorts of electronic equipment is now being effected due to these defective capacitors.
Solutions?
1. Take it in and have it fixed
2. Open it up, check the board for faulty capacitors(bulged or leaking) Buy a new Power supply board and install it.
3. Remove PSB, remove faulty capacitors and replace with compatible new ones.

Hope this helps

I have an Akai 37 wide-screen LCD TV/DVD Player combo and it no longer turns on

Chances are it is the Power Supply. It is a Megmeet MLT386X which is hard to find. There are places that will repair the old one. You remove the covers running across the heat sinks and if the capacitors are bulging, the repairs are within the capability of anyone who knows how to use a soldering iron.
If you are handy with a soldering iron, LCDalternatives sells a kit with ALL electrolytic capacitors prone to fail for $15.95 plus shipping. I bought the kit and fixed mine. It took a couple of hours to unsolder and replace the capacitors.

I want to remove the base from my Sylvania lcd 37" tv

Look towards the middle back of the tv there should be four screws that you can remove to remove the base. Follow up from the base they will be evenly dispersed in th emiddle of th etv and they will all be the same screw type after removing them slide out the base.

Thanks,
Michael

I have a polaroid 37 inch flatscreen hd tv...the light for the power comes on but the screen will not come on...sometimes if you leave it on the screen comes on later..there is no sound until the screen...

I did like everyone else has yesterday. I replaced (2) 1000 microfarad/ 10 volt capacitors on the power board with (2) $1.59 1000 microfarad 35v capacitors. I had to take the plastic cover off the back, then remove a metal cover to expose the board. You can follow the wires from the power cord. On my unit they are two small cylinders in the upper right corner of the board. The surfaces facing up were slightly bulging (indicates damage). I have a guy at work who messes with instruments all the time. It took him about 10 minutes. I got the capacitors at radio shack. The 35 volt capacitors are larger than the ones replaced, but fit in the available space, no problem.

No picture & no sound

Hello,Ok the procedure is a follows:1) get the service manual of the TV (to aid you in taking out the Circuit board in the proper fashion)2) after you remove the board use a soldering iron and a desoldering pump to remove the solder on the foil side of the circuitboard.3) pull the capacitors out slowly, and replace them with the new ones making sure to put them in correctly.4) solder the new capacitors in, and make sure you did not short any of the circuit traces together.5) Reinstall the board, according to the service manual instructions.6) test the TV by trying to turn it on.7) if all is ok finish the reinstallation procedure and put the back cover on and test the TV one more time. That's the procedure. The reason you need the service manual is because there are differences in how to remove boards between models of TVs and it's best to do the job according to the specifications.Thank you,I hope this helpsShuttle83http://www.electron-age-technologies-llc.com

Universal remote

Universal remotes never work good anyway. You will need the original remote anyway to work the different functions for the TV.

The cheapest that I can find one for you is at NewRemoteControl.com, it's $32.95

Hook up sylvania lc370ss8 LCD TV to a lg lht734 DVD home theater system

Hook a digital optic cable from the Tv's digital ouput to the Recievers digital sound in. This should fix it. You might have to switch the input of the reciever.
