you'd have to play with it and see if it's related to maybe a stuck fog light or simply the high beam switch is junk

Canon 380ex

I had a similar problem with my 430 EXII flash recently and discovered that after using the flash head in a "bounce" orientation, where the zoom automatically sets itself to 50mm, It wouldn't go back to wide angle or telephoto when I folded it back into place. The problem was caused by a small piece of confetti preventing the head from fully resting in the forward position. Check to see if there is any debris caught in there.

Are you positive there isn't a flash drive stuck in a USB port somewhere else on the computer? Very peculiar for the computer to be recognizing a completely different device.

550 ex zoom stuck on manual

Hi Liz,

Because this thread is more than a year old, I sincerely hope you figured out the solution to the zoom problem with your flash. I was having the same issue with the 550ex and found the simple solution on a forum about Canon Flash Photography.

Make sure that your diffuser panel (wide panel) is off and securely seated in the top of the flash unit. When the wide panel is in the down position, it forces the flash into manual mode at the widest setting.

Hopefully this little tip will come in handy for someone out there reading this thread.

Good luck!

The turn signal, stuck on constant blink, take the bulb out still constant on the dash sig.

sounds like the turn signal cam in the steeringwheel might be broken, stuck in the open position, poss. causing it to flash continuously. Hope this helps.

My Cd Player in my car wont take in any discs

Hello you probably have one stuck inside use a flash light press eject and see with your flash light if a disc is surfacing sometimes they get stuck and need a little bit of pres-wading.if this is not the situation perhaps your cd carriage is stuck in eject position if so you will need to have a service technician repair it.

The flash on my Canon Rebel xti is not working. the flash pops up, but it is not lighting. I saw some responses about people using q-tips and alcohol, but I do not know what exactly you mean and it is...

I think people were talking about cleaning the flash shoe, in case you use an external flash. However, there is a microswitch under the rails of the hotshoe on top of the camera that could be stuck in the down position.
If that's the case, some people use a toothpick to release it to the "up" position. If this switch is stuck, the camera thinks you have an external flash attached and ignores the popup flash.
The little pin people are talking about is the switch beneath the rails of the hotshoe. You might try to use the qtip and alcohol if it looks dirty. Take the camera in to a repair shop and just ask them where it is if you're still having a problem identifying it.
Good luck, and hope this helps.

How do I make my dscw55 only flash once instead of the delayed one

You can change flash modes with the control button.
Your camera has three flash modes.

First Position:
Flash forced on. This is the position that you want to use.

Second Position:
Slow Synchro Flash forced on. In this position the flash strobes twice.

Third Position:
Flash forced off.

I offer you to use the first position. In this position normally, your camera strobes for one time.

Main beam stuck on and no dipped beam or flash

Either the relay itself has jammed or the flasher arm is broken in one position. Much more likely to be the relay. But before replacing the relay, check the fuses that supply it as if the supply is interupted, can cause it to "lock" in one position
