Question about KitchenAid Microwave Ovens
Our top of the line expensive microwave/oven combination oven never baked properly from day one we purchsed 16 months ago. We tried baking cake or pizza... the top of pizza bakes fine but the bottom stays uncooked and so is the cake i.e., the bottom side remains soggy & wet and the sides do not turn brown. Tried adjusting temp but it burns the top.. still no luck. The kitchenAid sent their service twice but the tech. didn't know a didly and couldn't fix the problem. We replaced the bottom heating element still no luck. It appears that the bottom element is not even turning on as we could almost touch the bottom surface... Can anyone help as we have given up on KitchenAid Customer Service which to be very frank is not worth a dime and they don't care although they advertize big......SKG4Y

SOURCE: Microwave bulb replacement
The oven will need to come down from the wall so the outer cover can be taken off. Then you'll see the light socket(s).
It's recommend due to the weight and awkwardness of the oven that two people do this job.
If you don't still have your installation instructions, you can download them here, but you should use you full model number, as opposed to the base KEM378.
This uses a fairly common halogen bulb, but I'm not sure of the wattage. It should be marked on the bulb or on a tag near the reflector.
You must not touch the new one with your bare skin, as the oils will shorten the bulb life.

We had the same problem, got Neff service engineer to come out after taking out insurance. He said the megatron cracks which is a large magnet and causes the fuse board to blow and needs to be replaced. This occurs through lack of ventilation on instalation. Total cost £370 may as well get a new one. Plus our insurance wouldn't pay the cost and cancelled the insurance policy.

Testimonial: "Good stuff"
Hi I guess you are cooking usng the combination setting? if so The cake will be hard due to increased microwave energy, I would suggest reducing the microwave energy on the Samsung unit when using the combination setting.
Hope this helps

Hi Carol Eggers, thank you for your inquiry!
I understand that your wall oven is not allowing you to perform self-clean after you replaced your bake element. It sounds like it could be an issue within the control panel or sensor inside of your oven. I would recommend having a professional come out to properly diagnose your appliance. -Matt
