When I open my computer it goes to repair recovery on the screen

I'm not sure why you slammed the system shut, bu if it was to do with a system performance issue, the most likely answer is that the hard disk drive is or has failed.
If running Windows XP, boot to recovery console, see if you can run chkdsk on the drive. If Vista, boot to the DVD and run repair my computer.
Most likely, if those options do not get the system to boot, a hard drive replacement may be in the cards.

See let me talk with you from experience...
The only thing that can be done is system restore to factory default and remember to backup your documents.
This is the only way to resolve the problem you are going through.
Cheers.

Shut down the laptop, make sure that no light is lit up. Before booting it back up, press and hold the F12 button. It will lead you to boot options. Open up your DVD drive and insert Disc 1 of recovery then make sure you select the ODD or the dvd drive to boot up. This will start the recovery process.
Other models has Icons for boot options. Make sure you select the single disc option to boot the ODD.
Hope this helps.
