SOURCE: Slammed ZToshiba A135-2276 will not boot

I'm not sure why you slammed the system shut, bu if it was to do with a system performance issue, the most likely answer is that the hard disk drive is or has failed.

If running Windows XP, boot to recovery console, see if you can run chkdsk on the drive. If Vista, boot to the DVD and run repair my computer.

Most likely, if those options do not get the system to boot, a hard drive replacement may be in the cards.

See let me talk with you from experience...

The only thing that can be done is system restore to factory default and remember to backup your documents.

This is the only way to resolve the problem you are going through.

Cheers.

SOURCE: Toshiba L350 series laptop shows

Shut down the laptop, make sure that no light is lit up. Before booting it back up, press and hold the F12 button. It will lead you to boot options. Open up your DVD drive and insert Disc 1 of recovery then make sure you select the ODD or the dvd drive to boot up. This will start the recovery process.

Other models has Icons for boot options. Make sure you select the single disc option to boot the ODD.

Hope this helps.

Laptop slammed shut

That is because the Recovery cannot access the partition where the recovery program is located. Sounds as if you lost both the Recovery and the Windows OS. If the Drive is working ok, reinstall Windows from the start.

The Windows operating sustem appears to be corrupted and most like to get a working computer you need to restore it back to the factore default condition.
Before you attemp to do this and to back up data, remove the hard disk from the Toshiba and connect this hard disk to an USB hard drive adapter, then plug this adapter into the USB port of a working computer. This computer will see this as an external storage device. You can then open the various folders on this drive and back up your data on this computer or an USB memory stick.
To restore your Toshiba, insert the hard disk back into the Toshiba and follow these instructions..
Restore Toshiba to Out of the Box Condition
If your model Toshiba laptop has a Restore partition on thehard drive then follow these steps to restore your Toshiba to the Out of theBox condition.
1. Press and hold the 0 (zero) key and at the same time, tap the power buttononce to switch on
your notebook.
2. When the machine Starts beeping; release the 0 key.
3. When prompted by the warning screen; select Yes to continue with the systemrecovery.
4. Select Recovery of Factory Default Software; click Next.
5. Select Recover to out-of-box state. 6. Click Next again.

Having problems rebooting from recovery disk

Hi,

The laptop should have a hidden recovery partition on it to return it back to factory settings.
Make sure the laptop is switched off and then press and hold the 0 (zero) key on your keyboard and then press the computers power switch. When the computer turns on, the Toshiba HDD Recovery Utility screen will appear.

If there is no recovery partition then to get it to boot from the CD/DVD drive repeatedly press the F12 key as you start the laptop up.

If you need anymore help please post back.

There was a hardware failure / problem on your laptop. If I'm not mistaken it's probably on the Memory Module.

Toshiba satellite with windows xp will only show black sreen and wont let windows xp repair

Your description of the symptom shows that your operating system installation has been corrupted. Fastest and easiest way to resolve the Issue using the "Recovery and application disk" (it comes with laptop) to perform full system recovery. I would like to remind you full system recovery will erase everything saved on Hard drive. You can check possible option on http://support.toshiba.com

If you dont have recovery and application disk you get one. You can call Toshiba @ 1-800-457-7777
