I do not know how it happened but Genio suddenly appeared. When I clic on Firefox, Genio appears instead.

You have a virus/trojan of some sort. Try utilizing the info in this thread: Apple Support Communities You should be able to remove Genio.
Go on-line and Google uninstall Genio. Download the simple application and run it. Lo and behold - Genio is gone. You may have to reset your browser to Safari or Firefox or whatever and reset your landing page in browser preferences. Here's another solution: Go to toolbar; Genieo is on the top right hand side. Click on the icon and press "disconnect". This allows you to move it into trash.
