How do I listen to a message on the answer machine on the corded handset?

It depends on the answering machine. Some voicemail systems have specific codes you type on the keypad after you listen to a voicemail. An answering machine either has that capability or it doesn't support forwarding messages. You will have to find your owners manual with the original packaging, or online by googling the manufacturer, model number, and the words user manual.

To hear your messages, press PLAY on the base.
To mute, press CLEAR on the base.

Master unit has On/Off answer button. Select option you require.
The extension units do not have a message facility.

The DECT1560 isn't an answering machine; it doesn't do voicemail.

If the voicemail messages are on the system provided by your telephone company, contact them for instructions regarding its use. Normally, after listening to a message you'll have an option to delete the message.

You control the answering machine from the handset. First turn on the answering machine. Press Menu then use the up/down arrows keys to navigate to Ans Machine. Press OK then navigate to Answering M. Look for a check next to this to indicate it is on. Press OK to toggle the answering system on or off. Then press End or left arrow to return to the previous menu. If the machine's memory is full, it will switch off. Delete messages so that the unit will keep the answering machine feature on.

Next to record a new message follow the above steps to reach the Ans Machine menu and press OK. Scroll to Announcements and press OK. Scroll to Record Annc or Rec Annc Only (if no messages will be recorded). Press OK then bring the handset to your ear and listen for the notification of recording and then the tone. State your message clearly into the microphone of the handset. Press End to stop recording and listen to the unit play back your announcement. (It will stop automatically after 170 seconds or a 2 second pause in your speaking.) If an Annc Only message is available, the machine will play it when the memory is full. Otherwise, it will turn off.

To select your announcement (and recording type) follow the above steps to Announcements and press OK. Then scroll to Mode and press OK. Scroll to Annc or Annc Only (available if the Announcement only recording has been made) then press OK. Again OK toggles the announcement on or off; look for a check mark to indicate the announcement will be played. Press End to exit the menu.

Without knowing the model of your phone I can't be sure, but I believe you have unheard messages on the voicemail system provided by your telephone company. This system records messages when someone calls while you're already on the phone. Please contact your telephone company for instructions on accessing their voicemail system.

The unit lets you know when you have new voice mail, in the following ways; "new voice mail" is displayed on the handset; The message indicator, on the handset, flashes slowly if message alert is on. In order to listen to your voice mail messages, you must dial the telephone service providers voice mail access number. If the handset still indicates messages that have been listened to turn it off by pressing and holding "CLEAR" until handset beeps.

Do you subscribe to a service package that includes voice mail? If so, to use that service turn off the answering machine; And use the instructions provided by your service provider. If you want to use the answering system, call your service provider to deactivate your voice mail service. If service provider cannot do this then set the answering system "RING COUNT" so the system answers calls before voice mail. Check with your service provider to find out what the ring count of the voice mail service is , then make the answering system ring count so it answers first.

I think it is impossible to silence most answering machines. I haven'tseen any that you can listen through the handset. Did the manual or packaging specify this as a feature. If so, you should check the manufacturer's website for details.

The 25414RE3 isn't the model with the answering machine. The one that has the answering machine is the 25415RE3.

As for the problem, does the answering machine part of the unit actually pick up the line? Does it announce your pre-recorded message? Does it just not record the caller's response?
