GE JTP56 double oven controls OK top OK bottom no heat

Top (convection) oven is fine.

On bottom regular (conventional/thermal) oven, ran self cleaning. OK. Cleaned up fine. Next time tried to use, no heat, from either element, regardless of setting (temp, bake/broil).

Started self-clean cycle. Auto locked door. Still feels cool, so no heat again.

My bottom oven ( non-confection) will not go on-it will just sat 100 degrees but won't get warm or hot. Top seems to be working fine. This started after I tried to use the self cleaning feature.

If broil and bake do not work on your bottom oven, it is probably your lower thermistor or control board. If the bake works but broil doesn't or broil works and bake doesn't, it is very likely your heating element. With an ohmmeter, the heating elements should be about 40 ohms. Much higher or lower signals a problem. If you suspect the control board is the problem, they can be repaired quickly and reliably at www.fixyourboard.com

Upper oven problem,

The Keypad (membrane) switches seem to be malfunctioning, this is very common on ovens these days especially if the unit has been self cleaned often. If you replace the membrane switch the unit should have all its functions again.

I have a Bosch HBN 455 double oven with the convection oven on top, and a regular oven on bottom. The unit is about 5 yrs old. We recently ran the Self Clean mode, and it seems like it has malfunctioned...

Hi,

Do you see any Error Message on the Display?

If not, then it should not be a Concern. More often this could be Thermal Fuse on the Back of the Unit ( On Most Models ) will stop the Broil and Bake from Turning ON. You would just start a bake cycle and the temperature will sit at 100 and something degrees and never raise.appliance.

Let me know, once you check the same.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Bottom oven doesn't heat after running self-clean cycle

Usually, when an oven won't heat, it's because the bake element is burned out. The bake element is the black, pencil- thick tube at the bottom of the oven. When the oven heats, the element glows red. This element has an expected life-span of several years. It may last for only one; it may last for many more. When the element burns out, you need to replace it.

Top oven doesn't heat.

We had this same problem in our lower oven and found the solution the night before Thanksgiving. With 26 people coming for dinner, I desperately need both ovens. (Turn off the breaker for the oven before you do this.)

My husband took the control panel off of the upper oven and found a wiring diagram. In the text, it said there was a manual reset for each oven in the access panel for each one. He opened the access panel for the lower oven and found the reset button in the middle of that area. He said it was a black circle with a red button in the middle. After reseting, we turned the breaker back on and everything works great!!

Electric Oven doen't heat

cdkd, there should be a TC0, on the back of the oven. Thermal cut out. You want to check to see if it is open. You will have to pull the oven out enough that you can remove the back panel cover and check it. The lower and upper oven should have one. It's a very cheap part to replace. If this TCO fails, no heat. Check this first before buying a new board. Catriver..post back.
