Why do i continue to show low salt?

We have an intex 24ft metal frame pool w/ sand/salt filter. Last year toward the end of the season it was showing code 91 & low salt. we just set up the pool 5 days ago. We put in the recommended amount of salt- 7 bags for a 12,ooo gallon pool. Today my son & I soaked both the salt cell & the copper electrode cell. We also back washed. It ran for just a short time & started beeping again & showing 91. So! What is the next thing to try? We have not flushed the pre filter housing. Would that help w/ the salt level? Could our sensor be in need of repair or a new one? The copper electrode cell is wore, or the corners are rounded down quite abit. Any information would be appreciated very much!

I do have the same problem every few days all I just discover is that I remove the cell tube and with the help of a long thin knife I clean the surface of the copper cell both in between and outsides. There is always dry salt on the surfaces and after the cleaning the sensor reading is in acceptable level so the chlorinator is working perfect without any 91 massage. To work it every day in order to avoid this happens very often and of course every time you hear the beap sound you have to repeat the scrutching and cleaning with the nife,

SOURCE: Keeps saying low salt level

I would say the rain is diluting the system at this point, or the system sensor has gone out. But if you had heavy rains I would be looking at that idea first.

SOURCE: Salty taste, high ph levels, algea and have shocked pool twice

I'm just now setting up my Saltwater generator...so don't have your problem - yet! Local pool guy tho said with the saltwater systems you need to add dry acid to the pool almost weekly to keep the ph down. Sounds like what you're experiencing. The dry acid was cheap and came in small-ish containers, should last long time.

SOURCE: My intex saltwater system pump is beeping

Yes, and be sure to keep up with your pH as it will want to rise slowly over time when using a salt water chlorine generator.

SOURCE: I have added 40# pool salt to our Intex 52

Can you clean your sells? Give that a try ... dont over salt your pool.

If you still have a question, consult your pool supplier. They are nice people.

How do i connect a salt water system to the pool

if you use a salt system in an above ground pool, the steel frame work will last less than 2 years before it rusts out
talk this over with the pool experts first and then have them help you with the system needed

We change our pool that we have had for 10 years over to the intex salt system. 4ft X 24 ft round above ground pool. 13500 gla water. We put in 10- 40lb bas of pool salt and have ran the system for the 12...

The pool is green because you didn't take the metal out of the water first. It is too late now to do that ... you will just have to let the filter grab it. It may trake several days. Run the filter 24/7 for those couple days for best results.

Next time you fill your pool ... get a sequestering agent to grab the metals before you introduce CL to your pool. Use the sequestering agent according to the container instructions.

Your salt level should be around 3200 ppm, is it?

My water was crystal clear when delivered. I added the salt, ran the filter pump for 24 hrs as instructed. Turned on my Intex saltwater pump and within an hour water is green. Cannot find anything on...

I am not impressed at all with these salt water chlorinators.Shock the water and keep the filter running next day add a powdered chlorine.filter still running. check the balance with test strip in about four hours. If chlorine level is good start vacuming the algee off the bottom of the pool. Now throw away the salt generator and stay with the chlorine packs every week to two weeks continue to monitor with test strips

Intex system not giving chlorine, no errors but no green light

I found I had the same problem. I would set the hours, it would count them down but the green light would NOT come on indicating it was producing chlorine, yet the sleep light would light up after the count down so I knew the light was working. I checked my salt, made adjustments, had to do shock treatments to keep it clean. Today I  found out that the manual is incorrect in how it says to set it. After you set the hours, instead of pushing both the arrows at the same time until it beeps, push the down button until it beeps, and then the up button until it beeps. For 2 months I have fussed with this system, and finally the green light came on and my test strips indicate it is producing chlorine. Yeah! To bad intex does not seem to mention this on their web site.
Good Luck
