I have a dometic fridge in my camper and when on gas it works fine , but on electric its not working. i had the recall done at the first of the season and after that i had problems. i took it to another dealer and he troubleshooted and found the fuse blown . then that night when we went camping i turned it on gas to get it cold and the next morning switched to electric. later that afternoon the ice in the freezer was melting so i switched it back to propane. it worked fine that way. i am fairly good with checking stuff but need to know where to start and with what tools.how do you check the electric heating element ?
Hello Paintinfool3,
I have worked on these in the DISTANT past...
They are a great CLASSIC design... Working on gas
means you are 90 to 95% all good
The electric comprises two basic elements
only confused because you have both AC & DC modes.
Just for simplicity sake the ELECTRIC section
(heater & thermostat) section in the BELOW begins
with SECTION 63...
You need a volt-meter with an OHM scale...
(the $9 kind... HARBORFRIEGHT gives away).
There is a yes/no trouble shooting guide.
Also CUSTOMER CONTACT numbers in the very back.

Happy hunting!!

Hi,
Try to get hold of the Dometic Recall Repair Kit instuctions and they will give you step by step instructions with pictues. They are not well done but it is at least a guide.
SOURCE: camper fridge will not cool down(unsure of model)
ok firstly if you remove the element and give it 110v does it warm up if it warm up and still not making the fridge cold the propane chemicals are not right any more
SOURCE: won't get cold anymore
Good thinking... you need to hire a service technician (a good one!). Too many jackasses think they know these systems. Obviously, there's something wrong with the system.. if so, you need someone who knows what they're working on/with.

Hi Brian,
You don't want to use a screen that is made to fit. The original part was designed for a specific flame. That being said, colaws rv salvage may have a replacement burner in stock, and you can also try calling up a company that rebuilds cooling units for rv fridges.
