SOURCE: Says printer cartridge access door open when closed
No it will not complain for an open door if there is no cartridge. There will be a separate warning for no cartridge or toner not installed error. You might want to play around with the cartridge door a little and see for a possible paper stuck somewhere inside.

It coudl be the document feed cover. The door on the rear or any part that can be opened and closed.
See paper jam in trouble shooting section of your manual. It shows several thing being moved.

try to use a pin to click on the switch for the door and see it may be not working

SOURCE: A message keeps saying print cartridge access door
check that sensor function while open / close upper cover, some time hook type sensor connector broken and need replacement. check also roller for possible stock paper.
