My receiver no longer produces sound to the speakers unless I push the "Pure Direct" button.

verify that the optical cable (or the tv optical output) is not the problem. try using a different audio source with optical output such as a cd player if you have.

Reset factory settings of my Denon avr 2800

From Denon support:
To reboot, turn receiver off using the small on/off button, not the big standby button. While off press the night and pure direct button at the same time and keep holding them with your right hand while pressing the small on/off button with your left. You will see your receiver menu flash. When you see it flash let go of the night and pure direct button and the receiver will reset it self to the radio station 87.50. The receiver's microprocessor has now been set back to factory default.

Turn off main power, press "direct" and "pure direct" simultaneously while turning main power on. The display starts blinking, reset is done.

RX-797 no sound output except when "Pure DIrect" button pushed

Here are some things to check:
Is the loudness control turned off or set to a very low level? If the PURE DIRECT button is turned on with the LOUDNESS control level at 0, you won't hear anything.
Have you removed the jumpers from the PRE Out/MAIN IN jacks? If so, the unit will only perform as a power amplifier.
Is the CD DIRECT AMP turned on?
If so, the unit will only make sound if the PURE DIRECT button is on.
Check the CD DIRECT AMP and the PURE DIRECT buttons are both turned off. This should produce sounds. If ti doesn't, check that the A and B buttons are on for their speakers. Both can be on.

I have the Denon AVR-3805 receiver and I can't get it to turn on. When I press the "on" button, it turns from red to green but nothing else lights up. Can you help me?

By now the person who asked this (eleanorr) has certainly solved her problem, but in case anyone else has this same question:
It *is* on, as the color change on the Power button indicator light shows. Most likely, the receiver is fine; it's just that your front-panel display is off!
1. Check the DIMMER mode by pusing the buttom on the front panel -- it may be set to OFF.
2. Push the PURE DIRECT button on the front panel (or remote control) -- it may be ON, which turns off almost all of the front-panel display. (Alternately, change the AV source, which turns Pure Direct OFF.)

AVR 2807 shuts off at high volumes

You may have leaky Caps in the power supply or else dry joints on the amplifier section. Faulty speakers or overdriving of the system may result in the amp going into protection. Good Luck, Jus004
