Sony 27" picture quality

The top 2 inches of the picture on my 27" Trinatron appears as if it has been folded back 90 degrees into the plane of the TV screen, then it curves back to verticle. Is this a problem that is worth trying to fix.

Thanks - the repair shops will have a little better idea of the work involved when I call for estimates.

You probably have a leaky or open electrolytic capacitor in the vertical circuit. This will require troubleshooting by a repair specialist, unless you can obtain a diagram and do a little spy work with an oscilloscope

You have a vertical output circuit problem. This was common for Philips' sets. Have a repair shop check it out. Should not be too expensive to repair.

Rocket Grill - How to make Inexpensive bags - As low as 2 cents each

Many of us have Rocket Grills which we love, but the bags can be expensive, and it is a pain if you run out of them when you want to use the machine. Here is my solution which I have been using since the machine was originally released. They will hold fat and juice too.

First of all, you are going to need to get some parchment paper. I buy bulk 12 x 16 sheets from a supplier off eBay. (Remember the more you buy, the lower the price). In an emergency you can use a similar technique with Reynold's Parchment paper rolls from the store.

You Need

A. 12 x 16 Parchment Sheet/S
B. Stapler
C. Sharp Pencil or Pen
D. Table or Flat Surface
D. (My Optional Template)

Instructions

A. Take one sheet and fold it in half. so you have an 12 inch wide by 8 inch deep sheet. Crease the sheet by running your finger firmly over the fold.

B. Place the folded sheet on the table, so that the fold is at the bottom as you view it.

C. Now along the short open sides (left and right sides of the sheet), one at a time, fold both layers over as a flap about 1 and a half inches. Try and keep both of these folds to the top.

D. Using a stapler, Staple each side that you have just folded one inch from the top, and a quarter inch from the edge on each side.

E. Turn the parchment paper 90 degrees counter clockwise so that the sealed bottom faces to the right.

F. Take the bottom part of the flap that you created in section C, and fold it back at a 45 degree angle. You should end up having two equal size triangles.

G. Turn the paper back around so that the first fold (A) is at the bottom again.

H. Staple each fold that you just created, about a quarter inch from the top of where the folded edge is. (see picture)

I. Place three equal spaced staples in-between the two staples you just did in section H. You should now have 5 stales in one line, about an inch and a half from the bottom of the bag.

J. Pick up the bag, softly fold it in half in the opposite direction as of section A. Make a tiny crease in the top (Open section). This is so we can find the center of the bag.

K. Place the crease over two of your fingers, and gently push the Pencil or Pen through the crease about 3/4 of an inch from the top. Do not rip the bag) This will be used hold the bag in the grill. (I have cooked 1lb steaks in the grill, and the hole holds the weight fine. Be gentle though)

Comments

A. I know that it is possible for the staples to lightly scratch the grill. However the Grill pads are not designed to come into direct contact with food anyway, and will not damage the grill

B. Some people may wonder about using staples near food. If you use new staples from a clean box you will have no problem. The heat from the grill will sanitize any impurities that may be on them. Also not that it is highly unlikely that your food will ever touch the staples.

C. The pouch at the bottom will hold fat and juice, but depending on the quality of the paper you buy will determine how well the bag holds up. It is possible for the juice/fat to weep through the staple holes, but thats why you have a drip tray.

Thats all folks. Message me if you have any questions.2bda07b.jpg39f5fe9.jpgb6d7936.jpg7040cb1.jpga957872.jpgcbfcbde.jpg

JVC D-Series TV top of picture shrinking

There are probably two capacitors that are bad in the vertical circuit. Not too hard to replace if you have any experience at all. Find the vertical output IC ( usually IC451 or similar ) and simply change the closest electrolytic capacitors. A professional can do this easily. Could cost up to $150.

Elongated picture

There is a bad capacitor in the vertical circuit. If you feel comfortable working inside a set and can solder, update this and I'll try to get the specifics for you.

Sony tv problem

You have a loose solder connection or two. If I knew the model number of the set, I could be more specific. I would expect the repair would run about a hundred dollars, so make sure the picture quality is great before going to the expense.
