How can I charge my Kindle Fire? It won't charge on a plug-in or the computer - why?

I have had my Kindle attached to the plug-in charger (which was plugged in) all day, and it is telling me that the battery is too low. I have also had it hooked up via the USB to the computer for the last 20 minutes and it is still telling me to charge it for at least 15 minutes. What the heck is going on?

I guess you're trying to eject the Kindle from the task bar "(safely remove hardware". Try going into Start/Computer/right click on Kindle/ select eject. This worked for me when I had the same problem.

Sounds like your power cord is dead and that it's not charging. If it's new bring it back to the store you bought it from and get a new one.

Kindle will not shut off-goes to shut off or cancel but wont move. doesnt charge well-doesnt always hold charge

Patricia, Using the power switch, you can forcibly reset your Kindle device. This reset will shut down the Kindle without accessing the shutdown command from within the Kindle's operating system, a particularly useful tool when dealing with a frozen Kindle. To initiate a hard shutdown, Kindle disconnect from its charger, slide and hold the power switch for about 20 seconds. This will force the Kindle to shut down, now it can be restarted normally.
Check links below for charging problems.

Why wont my kindle hd charge?

It could be the charger itself. Try taking the USB cable out of the charger and plug it into your computer, then plug in the Kindle. Your computer's USB port should be able to charge it. If it still doesn't charge, you might have a bigger issue with the tablet itself.

My kindle won t turn on

Her is a possible solution:
1. Plug into the original charger, hold the power down for a full 30 seconds, release. Let charge in this state for 12 hours.
2. Lease the device plugged into the charger, while you have the device plugged into power, press the power button for a full 40 seconds, release. Wait for 5 seconds and then press and release the power button. Did the device wake up? No, continue to step 3.
3. Plug the device into another charger, if you do not have an charger from another phone go to Staples or Radio Shack pick up a new Kindle or Universal charger, make sure you can return the charger.
4. Plug the Kindle into the new or alternate charger. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds release. Let charge for 12 full hours.
5. Unplug the Kindle from the charger.
6. Press the power button for 40 seconds - time it. Release the power button, wait for 5 seconds, then press and release the power button. The Kindle should wake up. If not, proceed to step 7.
7. If you can not wake up the Kindle from a 'hard reset' the Contact Amazon directly for a replacement.
