I have heard you can use the Swap Magic Disk to get it to read out of region games. Check out Swap magic. Also, since your in Australia, you might can get a Mod chip. Mod your 75002.

How can I change the region settings on my Sony DAV DZ870W many thanks, Shane

When a DVD disc is created, it is encoded with a "Region number." The disc will only play on DVD players with the same Region number - for instance, a Region 3 disc won't play on a Region 1 player.
Region 1: U.S. and U.S. Territories, Canada
Region 2: Japan, Western Europe, Middle East, South Africa
Region 3: South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Southeast and East Asia Region 4: New Zealand, Australia, Pacific Islands, Mexico, Central/
South America
Region 5: Russia and the former Soviet Union, Africa, Indian
subcontinent, North Korea Region 6: China
The only way to get around the region codes, is to rip a DVD to your computer and remove the region code. Then burn the DVD to a DVD R. There are programs around on the net, but I'm not sure it is legal in all countries.
Google for the programs.
A DVD player sometimes allows you to change the region code once. But it not even would allow you to switch back after you changed it once.

How do I change the region code

One way, of course--probably the simplest and safest--would be to play a Region 1 sourced disc in you Australia player, but you would have only a few times you could switch back and forth between "America" and your own region's "Australia" recordings before your player "died" permanently to one or both regions.

Smarter would be to segregate your discs by the two regions; acquire a second player; convert it to region 1 by playing a N. America disc; and, afterwards, play each disc, respectively, on its own like-country-coded player. Players are inexpensive enough to make that feasible. If you are outputting to an entertainment center, it should be little problem to find an AB switching devise to switch from one player output to the other so that you two "countries" can share the same sound center.

I would be hesitant about trying to defeat the anti-piracy circuitry built into all players by other means. Or, at least, contact your player's manufacturer or tech support for advice.

Hi my son has bought a game from america and we are in the uk , it wont work , keeps saying not right region is there anything he can do so it plays on his xbox 360 thanks traci

Unfortunately there is not. Games, DVD's, ect, are all region coded and can only be played in the region they are specified. There are some devices that allow you to change the region code 1, maybe 2 times before being permanently locked on that region. Xbox is not one of these types of devices. Hopefully the game that he bought from America is available in the UK or coming soon.

On a side note, there is one expensive option to getting his game to play, but that would require you buying and having an xbox 360 shipped to you from the US. Then he could buy games from either UK, or America and use the appropriate region coded xbox!

Well i bought a game called 2k8 basketball here in philippines, but i bought my xbox on australia, then i tryed my game and it said, ( The disc's region code is incorrect for this consol ) so how can i...

Sorry you can't fix it. Most games are Region specific meaning that they are playable only on Xbox 360 systems from the specific region that you have. If you bought your Xbox 360 in Australia then it is likely PAL system and can only play Pal games.

"Determine whether the game disc is from the same region as the region where you purchased the Xbox console. To determine the region, view the back of the game package. Look for one of the following codes:

* NTSC: North America and South America (United States, Canada, Mexico, Chile, and Brazil)
* NTSC-J: Asia (Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Singapore, and Taiwan)
* PAL: Europe, South Africa, India, Australia, and New Zealand"

If the game you have doesn't match with your Xbox 360 Region then you won't be able to play it. (but a few games are playable on multiple regions, check list below)

Check out this site prior to buying games to help identify which games that aren't PAL might be still playable on your system.: http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-00-3-xbox360_compatibility_guide-49-en-84-t.html

Notice that NBA 2K8 US version is not compatible with PAL system. If you had bought the US version of NBA 2K9 then it would have worked.

Have an aussie ps3 trying 2 play dvd and it says region code incorrect how do i fix this

The PS3s' DVD and Blu-Ray player is region locked. This means that your Australian PS3 can only play DVD and Blu-Ray movies made for the region Australia is in or are region free (region code 0).

For DVD's, Australia is region code 4.
For Blu-Ray, Australia is region code B or region code 2.

Although this doesn't help your current problem, the PS3 is region free for PS3 games (you can play games from any region).

To work around this, I propose either ripping the DVD to your computer, then burning it onto a different DVD or streaming the DVD directly from your computer to the PS3. Streaming is definitely the better bet if you have more DVD's from another region.

To rip and burn your own copy, use a blank DVD disc and DVD burning/ripping software such as Nero.

To stream to your PS3, check out the following:
PS3 Media Server (my personal favorite) for PC
TVersity for PC
MediaLink for Mac

Enjoy your movie (hopefully)!

I bought a playstation 3 in South Africa and have moved to Australia and I can get any game or DVD to play on it that I have bought in Australia why?

I think you wanted to write that you CAN'T watch DVDs or play games bought in Australia on your PS3.
The reason is the region code of your playstation. It only can play Region Code 2 DVDs and games. In Australia you only can buy Region Code 4 media.
You need to buy your media from south africa or Europe. Some blueray-discs are region code free. You can check this on: http://www.blurayregioncodes.com/
As far as I know it's not possible at the moment to change the region code of the play station.
