Question about KitchenAid KHMS2050SSS Microwave Oven

Problem - Ghost in my microwave keypad? KHMS2056SBL scrolling screen at will

At any moment of the day the microwave will randomly scroll through screens; selecting a choice on the screen and scrolling on to another screen. As far as I know, it has not turned itself on, YET. We unplug it when we'll be gone overnight. I've had a tech out to look at it, but he states there is nothing they can do unless it happens while he is here investigating issue; don't know how that will help him, ugh! I would appreciate your help. Thank you.

I am glad to hear someone else is having the same issue we are. We've been dealing with this for about a year. We've called Kitchenaid numerous times and they say they seem shocked as if no one else has this issue. Thanks to all who suggested how to fix this and we'll give it a try.

My KitchenAid khms2050sss-2 just started with the phantom control panel activity. At random it will punch a series of buttons, but it hasn't start itself - so far.
I'll contact KitchenAid to complain, but it's 9 years old so I'm not hopeful.
I love the unit but reluctant to put any money into it, as it's so old.
I tried disconnecting for 1 minute as suggested below, but that didn't help. Neither did the 5 minute disconnect, so I'm calling KitchenAid tomorrow.

I'd check to make sure it is plugged into a grounded outlet that is actually grounded. If it is, it's likely a failure of the control panel circuit board. I agree with the tech, I'd have to actually see the malfunction before confirming any diagnosis.

SOURCE: microwave makes beeping noises and comes off and on by itself

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for about 5 minutes.

Otherwise, you probably have a failed membrane keypad.

Is it possible that some spray cleaner or steam accidentally got into the controls?

Direct spraying of cleaners on the keypad and steam from the cooktop can damage the controls.

I always recommend that you spray non-ammonia cleaner on a soft cloth (not a paper towel which can scratch) and gently wipe the keypad.

And I always recommend that you use the vent fan whenever you're cooking on the stove top to keep heat, steam, and grease out of the controls and door panels.

Also be sure your filters are cleaned, or in the case of charcoal types, replaced.

If it does not dry out over time, it may need to be manually dried or blown out.

The keypad may be damaged or worn out, or control unit may be damaged.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.
At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

But please note that for some models, the membrane keypad is not
available as a separate part, so you would have to order the control
panel frame assembly which comes with a new keypad.

In this case, you simply move your circuit board into the new frame.
That is a simple do-it-yourself
job.

Have you had a power surge or outage? sounds like the main circuit board lost its programming.

If left plugged in, microwave fills timer screen with "7's" then scrolls "push start". Circuit board? Fix?

I would say that the number 7 button is either broken or stuck in. If still under warranty, take it back. Otherwise, contact the vendor of the microwave and ask them how much it would cost to fix it. Generally, it's cheaper to buy a new microwave than replace the circuit board, unless you can find second hand parts on eBay or a similar site.

Ge jnm1541sn1ss

please do these test and fix it. God bless you
  1. Controller is confused A power surge or random non-reproducible action of the universe may have resulted in the controller's program ending up in an infinite loop. Pull the plug for a minute or two to reset it.
  2. Defective Interlock switches This can result in the controller thinking the door is open and ignoring you.
  3. Cleaning Cleaning solutions (spray cleaner) may have gotten inside and shorted out the touchpad or controller. If this happens remove the touchpad, let it air dry for a few days, and then attach it back on the microwave.

Setting level power of microwafe samsung

You can either choose to select the SET levels for the heat which can be a direct button or you can select the power button and scroll up or down the settings. Also the weight of the food must be chosen to be effective for the heat.
