I believe the only way of gaining access to the door latch assembly is by removing the cover. You can use needle nose pliers to grip the sides of the screws to slowly turn them out. You might want to visit this web site www.applianceaid.com enter your model number then scroll down until you see an exploded view of your model. Click to enlarge the diagram of your model exposing the latch assembly. I hope this is of help to you. If you found any of these suggestions helpful, please rate my solution. D. Lange

What usually breaks is
the door open lever, but it may also be that the rear side of the door
open button has worn down too far to work.
On
a counter top model, the outer cover will need to be removed to
diagnose and repair this. On an over-the-range model, usually only the control
panel needs to be removed.
Once
it is apart, you'll be able to see how the door open button would press
against the door open lever, which would then lift up against the door
latch heads (hook-like projections on the door) and the door should
open.

HI, this is an indication of a failed door switch. When the switch fails, the control cannot recognize the closed door signal. Simply replacing the door latch mechanism will solve this issue.
Replace the door latch assembly, asap.
