I regret to inform you that the Lexmark Z42 printer is not compatible with Windows Vista. For Windows, this old model is only supported in Windows 2000, Windows NT 4.0, Windows Server 2003(32-bit) and Windows XP(32-bit).
According to Lexmark official site there is no driver for windows vista. My recommendation would be to download the driver for xp , and to try to launch it . After you download the xp driver , right click > properties> compatibility> and select "run this program is compatibility with" choose windows xp from the drop-down list . I hope it will work this way . Good luck
Just wanted to say this worked great for me and saved me from having to purchase a new printer. Thank you VERY much. The computer was in by budget, but not a new printer. Blessings!
