Try eBay. I bought a couple of them there, but it was quite awhile ago.

SOURCE: Battery for Canon Digital IXUS i5 Battery

Is this a different battery model than the one that came with the camera?

If not then it will work fine in the original charger if it is the same kind of battery.

SOURCE: canon power shot G5 wont power on but the range

Possibly there may be a loose screw inside the camera, floating loose. Vifration over the years can knock it loose. Likely a fuse is blown and the screw needs to come out. Contact canon about a repair.

Will not turn on

Thank you for your question.

This camera has no low battery indicator light. It also has a short battery lifespan. You may want to buy a new battery, charge it up and try it.

Here's where you can find the battery:
http://www.thediscountplanet.com/Store/search_results.asp?v_search=powershot&v_type=0&v_supplier=0&page=1&lowest=0&highest=9999999&map=0

If this does not solve the problem, check that your charger is working. If chargers go bad, the user thinks they charged the battery all night and the camera still doesn't work.

Many times, the battery goes completely dead because it hasn't been charged in months. In this case a new battery and charger may be purchased to solve the problem.

My Canon 2000x will not recharge. It was OK for a few months, recharged regularly, but I can't get anywhere with it now.

Rechargeable batteries don't last forever. Lithium batteries in particular can fail early if they are allowed to become totally discharged.

The best way to proceed is to buy a new battery, then try to charge it. If it charges and the camera works, problem solved.

If it doesn't charge, then maybe you need a new charger. The battery will not be wasted though, as it is always handy to have a spare.

I usually search Amazon for cheap replacements of these items.

I lost my bag and my battery and my charger were in there is there any way I can go to a store and buy those parts back in new york

B & H Photo has a store in New York City, besides their online sales here. The BP-208 battery runs $45 and the CA-570 charger runs $83 at B & H. You can also purchase them from Canon online here for $70 and $125, respectively.
