I sat the date 19 times and it just keeps asking why is this happening ?
The Time/Date battery is a small round lithium battery the size of a dime in the battery compartment. You can get the numbers off it and buy one at Walmart or Ebay.

It could also be simply that the internal battery is discharged, especially if the camera is not used frequently. First try installing a fully charged main battery, leaving the camera with the power switch off for 24 hours, set the time and date and see if it holds. If not, then you may need a new internal battery.
SOURCE: camera will not retain time setting
Firts check the state of the litium battery, this is locate near the Audio/video port in your camera, with small flat screw driver you will be able to remove it. If the same situation occur after replacing the litium battery and i'm assuming the unit had never be open before unfortunately your camera needs new main board ass'y. But if the case is that some one open the unit before check for a loose conector from the litium unit to the main board.
SOURCE: Camera keeps forgetting the date.
This can be because the camera system battery usually a CR2030 needs replacement. Check in the manual where it is located

Yes, the clock battery has died. This is very inexpensive and easily replaceable. Lift up the rubber flap on the left side of your camera. Pry open the little sliding door just under the flap. Pay attention to the little button battery inside and how it's installed (you won't want to put in its replacement upside down). Go to the battery section at your local pharmacy and look for a CR1220 battery. It's very common, and should only cost a few dollars. Reinstall the replacement in your camera, and you should be good to go. Note that Walmart's watch section also carries this battery but it will be more costly than Rite-Aid or Walgreens pharmacy (I know, it's unusual).

There are two batteries in the camera. One is the big one you charge and the other is a little coin type battery. This coin battery maintains your settings and when it goes your camera forgets things. Same setup on computers and a lot of other electronics. In your camera the battery is a CR1220 worth about $1-$2. It should last about 3-5 years but you never know.
The battery is in a little holder on the left hand side of the camera. Its under the same cover as the usb connector and power plug in. You should be able to pop out the battery holder fairly easily. This is one of those things that if you take the camera to a battery store they will probably do it for you if they aren't busy. If you look at page 137 of your manual you will find the instructions for doing it yourself.
