Cybershot 7.2 flash not working

I have a sony cybershot 7.2 with carl zeiss lense

it can take pictures perfectly in day light,
but when i need the flash it either doesnt flash or flashes but the picture comes out extremely blurry with all zig zags.

the flash symbol on the right hand side of the screen has the letters SL next to it.

Also i have tried to change the flash settings by pressing the flash button but a message saying "flash settings cannot be changed" comes up

Id appreciate any suggestions

Thanks

Bob

Film Camera shutter won't close. Sometimes

Carl Zeiss is exceptional which results for greater sharpness and less Chromatic aberrations. and also its a well known brand with almost 125 years of history. Usually a stuck lens is caused by dirt getting into the gap between the lens barrel sections. The simplest thing to try is a freshly recharged battery, which might just have the power to overcome the resistance. Plugging in an AV cable sometimes blanks the screen, leaving just a bit more battery power for the lens. Every product we make is backed by an industry leading, limited lifetime, transferable warrant. ZEISS warrants for a period of 2 years from the date of original purchase that the product is free from defects in material and workmanship. An extended warranty for one additional year is available by registering the product within 4-weeks of the date of purchase at the ZEISS product registration. Zeiss lenses really show high-end performance. On the other hand, these lenses also show some weaknesses - the most obvious being the lenses' measured sharpness. ... So although these lenses are masterpieces of build quality, their results may not always be as good as expected.

Driver download

Do you really need a driver?

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

My Sony Cybershot DSC-W120 Super steady shot Camera won't turn on

I have the same problem, but when I remove the MS Pro Duo card (1GB) from the camera it works fine again. The memory card works fine in a pc memory card reader. Is there a problem with the Sony camera built-in card reader?
