It sounds like one of the heating elements has gone out. I've replaced the one in mine and it's not difficult. They just plug in like the ones in an oven. You'll be able to tell which one when you get inside if that's it.
IF ITS NOT YOUR HEAT ELEMENTS CHECK YOUR VENT WHEN IT CLOGS UP THE DRY WILL NOT HAVE GOOD FLOW AND YOU THINK IT NOT DRYING . ALL THE NEW HOMES RUN THE VENT UP TO THE ROOF AND THEY MUST BE CLEANED EVERY YEAR TO PREVENT BAD AIR FLOWIF ITS NOT YOUR HEAT ELEMENTS CHECK YOUR VENT WHEN IT CLOGS UP THE DRY WILL NOT HAVE GOOD FLOW AND YOU THINK IT NOT DRYING . It may be as simple as checking your lint filter.
If you use fabric softeners sheets, they tend to clog the lint filter holes. Washing it with soap and water will restore it back to normal and will allow the circulation that the dryer needs to properly dry your clothes.
Could be element or thermostats, element is twin giving two heats ie !00watt/ +1800watt, possible one side has gone, you bcan check with multimeter and compare readings..Good luck
Really sounds like an element is burnt out or a safety has malfuctioned. Possible loss of power so check plug, recept., and breaker. Look for burnt terminals and reset breaker even if it does not look tripped. Dryer usually have 2 elements. One for low heat and both for hi heat. May want to check this out. Please keep in mind that some repairs can cost more than buying a new dryer. I got one at Lowes for about $200 and it works great. I don't think you can get a repair guy out and to the repairs for that amount. Just depends on how many whistles, buzzers, and bells you want on your machine.
We should address the heat problem first. If your dryer complaint is "heat seems low" or taking "too long to heat", this is commonly confused for other problems. When in fact, you may really have a "ventillation problem". Do you feel (with hand) alot of hot air pressure coming out the back of the dryer or house vent-line (for dryer)?
I would disconnect and clean the dryer exhaust vent/duct (at wall and machine). Then, while leaving the vent-line disconnected temporaily, test and run your dryer. You may see an signficant improvement.
Does it heat up better?
Do you feel alot of hot air and pressure coming out the back of the dryer?
When connected; do you feel alot of hot air pressure coming out of your house dryer vent?
I don't think it is the heating elements. You have checked out all the important stuff. Is there power coming from the controls on medium and low. It sounds like this is the problem.
You may have either a bad thermostat control or wiring to the heat element burned in 2. Are you getting power coming out of the control switch when it is on high. If you are, then the element or wiring is bad. If you aren't, then more than likely it is in the control switch. Let me kmow how you do.
