I have cleaned all the hoses and filters, but almost a year later it will not power on! What could be the problem?

SOURCE: Shark euro-pro x upright vacuum that shuts down every 15 minutes

These are prone to overheating. The manufacturer put a foam 'filter' wrap around the electric motor. This filter wrap insulates the motor, trapping heat inside, which causes overheating. The motor is very similar in form and function to the one in the Hoover Windtunnel, but the Windtunnel has no filter wrap. It doesn't overheat, and functions fine without it. There is a filter on the intake anyway. It's a redundant filter, and I have removed mine. It works fine now.

If you take the filter out yourself, you will need a special screwdriver for one of the motor cover screws. I guess they don't want the consumers opening it up.

I suggest taking it to a vacuum repair shop and explaining to them the problem, and asking them to remove the filter wrap from the motor.

SOURCE: where is the reset button on shark navigator.

I'm not sure it has one. Check the owner's manual though.
Try this. Turn off vacuum. Unplug it. Make sure there are no clogs in main hose, power head intake tube, or intake inside tank. Plug it in, turn it on, and let us know what happens.

Mine takes longer to shut down, but I just started having this same problem. I wish I knew what's causing it so I could fix it. I think maybe we had a power surge at some point when I was using it last week. :(

I cleaned the filter and emptied out the canister from the bottom and now the dirt comes out on my filter and not in the canister?

The first place the "dirty" air enters is the top chamber of the canister where it traps the bigger stuff.

The canister has two clean-out doors so make sure you open them both (top and bottom) or you could have problems.

Nice thing about the Shark as it has a number of clean-out points starting at the base of the hose where it enters the bottom of the vac. to the beater brush (on the bottom of just behind the brush assembly). Good luck!

I need a DIY solution because my shark navigator lift away beater bar attachment stops working intermittently

If you've gotten 4 years out of a Shark you've already beat the system. Give yourself a pat on the back, throw it in the nearest dumpster, then go to your local vac shop and purchase a quality USA made vacuum cleaner that is repairable and will likely last 20-30 years. Chinese vacs are designed to last one year and parts are not made for Sharks.

I think I may have a plugged hose. How do I take the handle off from the head to get to the hose?

Hi, it's Allie from Crucial Vacuum!

Your Shark Navigator Freestyle Cordless unit has a flexible air hose located on the floor base of your unit, which allows the air flow and picked up dust to travel from the floor through to the canister.

Accumulated hair strands and debris may cause this hose to be clogged, the dustcup inlet to be blocked or the brushroll to not run properly. Start with turning off your vacuum. Press the release button on the back of your unit's main body and remove the motorized brush. To reach and clear the air hose, flip back the connector to straighten the air passage and remove all debris or blockage found.

What I need is a replacement part for my shark vacum, it is the hose part and I believe still under warrenty for the next 9 years. Do you think you could send me the broken part ?......

Shark does not make replacement parts. Throw it away, it's a true disposable machine. If you want a second opinion, call any vacuum repair shop, they'll tell you the same thing.

I want to know WHY my HEPA filter and cover blow off my unit with force each time I turn the unit on and start sweeping...Help?

Vacuum cleaners actually blow air through the filtration system. Over time particles will block the pores in the filter which doesn't allow enough air to pass through it and pressure will build up behind the filter and has to go 'somewhere'. Either clean the filter or replace it, and be certain to properly reinstall the assembly before turning it on.

It lost suction. How can I fix it?

Are all your filters clean? Start with end of hose and go backward. Hose, small dowel. Make sure clean. Then, next section motor or hose. Keep going.

Lost all suction? what happened?

Give it a good cleaning, the hose or vents could be blocked up. Make sure you check the air filter (intake vent) if this is blocked it will stop a vacuum cold.
