I have a HP Deskjet 882C printer and for the past month we are having problems printing text (B&W). We have removed the black ink cartridge and it still has a lot of ink in the cartridge. When we put a new black cartridge in, it will print clearly intially, but within a week it is again printing out pages with only about 50% saturation. I have searched for instructions to direct me on how to clean the printer heads, I am not finding how to do this. I use Windows XP. Is it time to buy a new printer or can I clean the printer heads? Thank you for your help.

To clean the HP Inkjet print cartridges from the HP Toolbox, using a Windows operating system, perform these steps:

  1. Double-click the HP Toolbox icon on the computer screen.
  2. Click the Printer Services tab.
  3. Click Clean the print cartridges and follow the directions on the screen.
If the print quality improves after completing this sequence once, but the quality is still not quite good enough, repeat procedure. Start at Step 1, or click the Clean Again button on the final cleaning window. If this process does not improve the print quality, the HP Inkjet print cartridges might be low on ink. See the document that is provided with the black HP Inkjet print cartridge for instructions about how to use the ink level sensor to determine if the cartridge is low on ink. Replace the HP Inkjet print cartridges, if appropriate.

Problem with hp deskjet 640c printer

i have an hp and find that they (color carts) cannot be refilled- the clever b*st*rds!! they stepped the ink reservoirs so, if you don't insert the re-fill needle 'just right', it bleeds into the others and you end up with a 'muddy' print-out! you need to buy a new hp cart, or shop around for a generic cart (cheaper) google your product & cart #. you may find a source for a cheaper cart.
the black carts. can be re-filled!
good luck!

Blinking ink refill light

Hi, Please follow the steps given in the below document to clean the ink cartridges

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&objectID=c00058182

Also try replacing the refilled ink cartridges with genuine ink cartridges as it might be an issue with the refilled ink cartridges.
