SOURCE: problem w/ dometic penguin a/c. upgrade kit?

You know what, I have never ran into that yet in 15 years, so I think your best bet would be to go to, (dometicusa.com) and send then a quick inquiry to confirm, what would be required, they are usually pretty helpful believe it or not.

SOURCE: I have a 13500 btu ac dometic penguin model on pan

Your choices are another Dometic or a Coleman
I prefer the Coleman But the amount of extra cooling you will get by stepping up to a 15K unit will probability not be worth the added cost

SOURCE: My 1990 Penguin unit has a leak. Can it be fixed?

Leaks can be repaired, some quite easily and others while difficult to find - and get to - prove somewhat more difficult.

The problem with 'leaks' is sometimes they are 'high pressure leaks' which are some of the more difficult ones to find.

So... the answer to your question is yes - but.

I would try and get a very experienced Service Tech to fix the leak, and one who will stand behind his work.

good luck!

How to wire six wire to three wire termenal

I'm pretty sure this thermostat uses digital communications with a dometic control board. In other words, there are no contacts in the digital thermostat to turn something on and off. Even if you ran a 12VDC wire to the thermostat for power, it won't work to replace a "real" thermostat. I bought one to replace my old analog thermostat and it's not going to work for me.
