It makes a loud noise when returning to the left

You didn't give a make or model, but look in the carrier area for debris.

Alarm message says "cartridge jammed". Does that

What you see moving is the print carriage. The carriage moves the cartridge, adjacent to the printhead, back and forth.
Although the carriage is moving, the ink cartridge can not dispense ink because an obstruction is
blocking the path of the ink.
Remove the ink cartridges, inspect the cartridges as well as the cartridge holders for any foreign debris and reinstall.
If the alarm message continues, I suggest changing the ink cartridges.

I have a Brother HL 1440 that had the paper jam in the front and back, crumbling up in the process. I cleared both locations with no success. The ready and alarm continues to flash and the printer still...

Check the following steps for fixing Brother Carriage Jam Error :

Open the print carriage access door. Check for any packing material that may be blocking the internal components. Check for an orange shipping lock that may still be in place on the left side. Pull the shipping lock out, if present, and discard.

Remove and reinstall the cartridges to make sure they are properly installed. Lift the front center of the print carriage access door to open it. Lift the door up until it locks into an open position. Press down on a print cartridge and allow it to spring back up. Lift the cartridge out of the printer. Do the same for the other cartridge. Slide the black cartridge into the slot on the left and the color cartridge into the slot on the right. Press down on each one to lock it into place. Lower the print carriage access door.

Check the print cartridges to make sure the protective tape has been removed from the ink nozzles. Remove the cartridges from the printer. Remove any tape or labels. Replace the cartridges into the printer.

Push in on the tab on the left side of the clean-out door on the back of the printer to open the door. Lift the door out of the printer. Check for any paper jams. Jammed paper can block the printer cartridge carriage from moving. Pull any jammed papaer out.

When I try to print I get a LOUD tapping noise. Also ink cartridges do not return to middle position when I open the machine, though I can manually move the cartridge case (which may or may not have been...

Try unpluging the printer from the wall power then move the carriage all the way to the left side. While you are moving this make sure there is nothing blocking or catching the carriage. It should move over easily with using a lot of force. After it is all the way to the left plug it back into the wall with all the covers closed. It should reset itself to the default position. After it stops open the lid to see if the carriage comes to the cartridge replacement position.

Paper feed not working. green button and orange

I assume you mean that the power and resume lights are blinking. This signals a carriage stall. Open the top cover, if the cartridge cradle moves to the right, it isn't stuck and may be a one-time issue. If it is stuck, unplug the power to the printer. Open the access door and observe the carriage position. Clean any lint or paper pieces out. Remove any obstructions. Move the cradle and continue checking for lint, paper and obstructions until the entire area is cleaned out. If the print carriage started out on the left side, return it to that position to make sure the cartridges are back in the capping station. Look inside the printer along the cartridge cradle path for obstructions and remove any. Remove the rear access door and check for paper pieces, remove any obstructions.

Plug in and turn on the printer and see if the carriage returns to the left and reseats itself in the capping station. Close up the printer.

If this doesn't work, the printer may need service.

I hope this helps.

Left cartridge incorrect for lexmark x5470

Check to see if the installed cartridge is the correct one for the printer. . If the cartridge is the proper part number, remove the ink cartridge and make sure all the packaging tape has been removed from the copper circuitry strip on the backside of the cartridge. Reinsert the cartridge and try printing again.
If the error continues, remove the cartridge again and clean the copper circuitry strip on the backside of the cartridge, and the contacts inside the printer, by following the instructions below:
1. Use a clean, dry, soft, lint-free cloth. Locate the copper-colored circuitry strip on the back of the cartridge.
2. Wipe the copper-colored strip with the dry cloth. Use an upward motion, from the nozzle end to the top of the cartridge. Do not wipe the nozzle end of the cartridge or touch the nozzle plate. Wipe the contacts only once.
3. To clean the printer contacts, carefully look for fibers or contamination on the electrical contacts inside the carriage assembly, but do not wipe the printer contacts with any object. The contacts in the printer can be damaged if too much pressure is applied during a wiping process. Try to remove any visible attached debris within the carriage assembly by gently pulling the debris off with your fingers. If the carriage contacts show noticeable damage, contact to Customer Care Center listed in the printer's User's Guide.
Reinsert the cartridge and try printing again. If the error continues, the cartridge may need to be replaced.
Have a nice day and do not forget to rate please...!

MFC-665CW "unable to print" 30 error what can I do to resolve this problem? I think I had a papaer jam and my sister pulled the paper out and still had an issue. help!!

Several conditions may cause the error message Machine Error 30 to be displayed on the LCD. This error may be the result of one of the following:
  • The print head carriage is failing to return to its home position to the far right of the unit.
  • Both of the springs located on each side of the carriage is out of place.
  • The cartridge covers may not be locked securely in place.

Please follow the instructions listed below to correct this problem:

  1. Press the INK button on the Control Panel.

  2. Using the dial pad, press 2 (Replace Ink). The display will prompt you PLS OPEN COVER.

  3. Pull the Scanner Cover release lever located under the Control Panel and lift the Scanner cover. The carriage should move to the left in order to replace the ink. If the carriage does not move to the left, your machine will require service.

  4. After the carriage moves to the left, press down each cartridge cover and remove all ink cartridges from the machine. There are 2 springs located on each side of the carriage that hold the print head against the carriage assembly. They are thin silver springs approximately 64mm or 2 1/2 inches, set at an angle.

  5. If the spring is out of place, press the spring back into place. You can use the spring on the opposite side of the carriage as a guide as to the correct position.

  6. If the spring is not out of place, reinstall each ink cartridge.

  7. After installing the ink cartridges, close the covers and verify they are securely locked into place. Your machine then prepares for a head cleaning and goes online. The LCD screen prompts you to verify if a new ink cartridge was inserted for each color you removed. For example, DID YOU CHANGE BLCK 1. YES 2. NO.

  8. Press 2 (No).
Note
If you decided to place a new ink cartridge in for any of the colors when uninstalling and reinstalling the cartridges in the above process, press 1 (Yes). The machine will automatically go through a cleaning cycle.

The unit should then return to date and time. If Machine Error 30 continues to appear on the display, your unit will require service.

Paper jam?

Check Paper light flashes but there isn't a paper related problem The check paper light may also flash if there are other problems. Verify the following conditions:
  • Verify that the print cartridge door is closed.
  • The print carriage may be jammed, follow these steps to correct the problem:
    1. Open the print cartridge access door. If the print carriage can move, it should move to center. If the print carriage stays all the way left, unplug the power cord and then plug it back in. This will reset the unit and may allow the print carriage to move from the left.
    2. Disconnect the power cord from the all-in-one.
    3. Remove both print cartridges.
    4. Move the print carriage left and right slightly to verify that the print carriage will move freely. If the print carriage will not move freely, check for obstructions.
    5. Close the print cartridge access door.
    6. Plug the power cord back in.
    7. After the all-in-one initializes, the print cartridge light will flash. Open the access door and install the print cartridges.
    8. Close the print cartridge access door. If the problem returns, remove the print cartridges and wipe the electrical contacts before reinstalling them.
  • Try to make a copy. If the all-in-one pulls in paper but cannot make a copy, there may be a problem with the scanner mechanism. Contact HP for assistance.
